Biography

After wandering into the heart of the Cairnstone Rest, the young Ridgeback stumbled across one of the Clan's hunting parties and asked if he might join them. He was permitted and returned to the lair with them afterwards. When asked his name he proudly declared himself as Antares, after a prominent star and in similar fashion to his brothers and sisters. Belinta took the youngster under her wing to show him around but recognized she didn't have to keep him under quite as watchful an eye, he was a native to the Earthshaker's realm and as such, knew quite a lot already on how to survive the harsh environment.

Antares, also known by its Bayer designation Alpha Scorpii, is the fifteenth brightest star in the nighttime sky and the brightest star in the constellation Scorpius, and is often referred to as "the heart of the scorpion". Along with Aldebaran, Regulus, and Fomalhaut, Antares comprises the group known as the 'Royal stars of Persia'. It is one of the four brightest stars near the ecliptic.
