Haven
Huntress
Decimator of Foes and Food

"I'm not sure why you're still here if you don't know what you're doing."

There are those who find solitude without seeking it. Haven is among the few who do seek solitude.

She is a decisive sort, and can tell very quickly whether or not she is inclined to like someone. She is generally distant, and keeps few companions at her side. She is cautious - she is slow to trust others, and even slower to respect them, operating by an "earn respect, don't demand it" standard. This trait, combined with her temper, can make her unresponsive to authority figures, and has earned her an unfortunate reputation as either elitist or indignant. She is not slow to anger, and it is not uncommon for the simple presence of another to get on her nerves.

Known to few is her actual perspective, which lies in sharp contrast to the prickly persona she presents. She is a sensitive dragon who truly does care about her friends - she just has no idea how to express that. Completely aware of this trait, she prefers to keep her interactions with others limited for the sake of preserving both her reputation and their feelings. Her preference for distance was calculated, and wisely - despite her rough edges, and perhaps because of them, she has the reputation of an unmatched fighter for her clan.

Her preference is to be alone. She makes no tragedy of it - her time alone in nature is time to reflect and relax. The northern shores are among her favorite places to tarry. She adores the feeling of cool sand beneath her hands, the soothing, muted roar of the ocean waves. The wind that gently blows through her mane and caresses her long neck.

She maintains a tiny cave she found near a tidepool. As she walks along the beach, she stores beautiful shells and small treasures in a knapsack at her side. She deposits her favorite trinkets within the small alcove, and sometimes admires them when she returns. And she always returns. She had once found a gorgeous conch - a smooth, glassy, pink shell nearly the size of her nose that was occasionally blotted with white or pale yellow. She stored it in the cave, and upon returning to it, one day found that a rather moody hermit crab had taken up residence.

She searches for other treasures passively, just allowing them to happen upon her, rather than seeking them out. She wanders through her clan's territory (and sometimes through others') just for the experience of exploring them. The freedom of walking alone, unchained by anyone or anything, is something she finds relaxing, and values above most of her possessions.

When fancy strikes, or when bad weather simply keeps her lair-bound, Haven uses sand she collects from her favorite shores to smelt glass. Her delicate creations are kept in a shelved chest in her private quarters, out of sight. She prefers they be kept out of the way of those who might clumsily destroy them. Though she doesn't like to admit it to herself, she also quietly enjoys the fact that she's the only dragon who gets to touch them.

Her creations are quite impressive - small tinted jars with carefully fitted lids, tiny replicas of animals, twisted vases, and even some decent attempts at crystalline jewelry fill the chest. She was granted space at a forge to work, and there is a silent agreement with the smith that no one will know she is a talented glassblower - so long as she obliges his occasional polite request for a flower vase or a drinking glass.

Her solitude and caring for others combine to make her a relatively withdrawn dragon. Though she feels compelled to fight for the well-being of those around her and for what she feels is right, she does not necessarily take an easy liking to those she fights for. She has long come to terms with it, though. As far as Haven's concerned, you don't have to respect the dragons you like, and you don't have to like the dragons you respect. She simply hopes that her efforts on the battlefield are enough to get the message across that she doesn't hate everyone.
