Larimar is a long-standing member of Fohnhaven, and a permanent fixture. However twice now has she come within moments of leaving to serve Windsinger before finally finding her calling as a birdkeeper and conservationist.

Never quite finding her place during her initial weeks at the lair, she would often wander into the vast bamboo groves of the Windswept Plateau, simply to clear her head and ponder her purpose on Sornieth. She belonged in Wind territory, that much she knew; her birth element innately anchoring her to its breezy lands. But having tried and failed to settle first in her birth lair, and then in Fohnhaven, she couldn't help but wonder if she were destined to serve some higher purpose with her deity. So it was that she threw herself into harsh training, knowing the resulting greater strength meant she would at least leave her adoptive clan with a little wealth once she was gone.

* * *

On her second day of training, her session was interrupted by an abrupt chittering from a nearby grove. She tried to ignore it initially, but a dark shape darted into sight at the edge of her vision and she could not resist a glance. It was a bird, rather a large one, with a striking red beak and white cheeks. She saw it watching her intently as she tucked in her wings and tilted her head to one side - to her delight it mimicked her, chirped happily, and hopped down to peck at a few errant seed pods on the ground.

Larimar continued to train, now with a feathered spectator keeping her company. Every few moments she would stop and glance at the bird, tilt her head, then grin when it did the same. Come sunset she had stopped training altogether, and was instead nestled comfortably in her makeshift reed nest watching her friend flitting to and fro in the fading light.

The next morning Larimar left for Fohnhaven, Java Sparrow friend in tow. The bird had fascinated and captivated her - what other vastly varied bird life must there be across Sornieth's many habitats? She wouldn't know, or at least wouldn't be able to study them so closely if she left the physical plane.

Larimar spent a little time travelling Sornieth, searching for and studying as many bird types as she possibly could. On her return, after gaining an indifferent Kila's permission, she set about creating a huge aviary where she planned to house birds that were either recuperating from injury or illness, or otherwise couldn't return to the wild.

* * *

Larimar is loud, bubbly, kind and utterly devoted to 'her' birds. Although unintentional, she's the sole reason that Fohnhaven doesn't consume birds as food; many say they simply couldn't bear to see the look on her face if they did.

Her Java Sparrow, affectionately nicknamed Bean, accompanies her everywhere and is a huge help in the sanctuary. Recently, after a foraging trip, he was followed home by a small and rather irate Ragepuff; apparently Bean had encroached on the bird's territory and her idea of revenge was to constantly shadow the bigger avian, chirping furiously until he somehow returned the meal he had stolen. Larimar took a liking to the little (literal) rage ball, and to Bean's chagrin has semi-adopted her. Despite being fed sufficiently, the newly-named Beatrice (after Larimar's mother) still insists on bullying Bean into giving her all his food as well, yet the Sparrow has so far admirably avoided doing so.
