A V A N I
You show me there's something more to us
Than the same old thing, no usual affair
I will never dream of your love till you take me there
Till you take me there, ooh babe
Nature Ambassador | Tree Warden | Green Claw
Avani's origin story found here, written by Avalonian/#11466. Leaving her family was one of the hardest things Avani had ever done- but also one of her biggest dreams. Even as a hatchling, the Spiral felt the call of the wind tugging her high above the trees and beyond the mists of her home clan. She wanted to explore the world beyond the verdant path her parents walked and once the sun had touched her scales, her heart had already succumbed to wanderlust. Once she had learned how to hunt, gather and grow, Avani set out to find what lay beyond the shaded undergrowth... and what she discovered was stone and sunlight. The Spiral found herself in the Earthshaker's domain, a land covered in glittering sand and rock. The sun felt amazing on her scales and she couldn't get enough- but one thing was missing. ... where were the trees? Turning round and round, Avani spotted a tall pillar of rock rising up and up into the sky. She decided to climb it for a better vantage. From high up there she could definitely see where the trees were in this sepia-toned landscape. As soon as she had reached the top, she felt the warmth of the sun even more on her scales. Fascinated, she stared as the light danced across the brown and gold began to show through. It was as if the Earthshaker were giving her a special 'welcome' gift! Delighted, she almost forgot her initial task- the trees! In the far distance, she could see the green of her home clan. So many trees lined the edges of the rocky sands. Her wide, warm grin spread across her face and she wasn't so nervous anymore. They were close! Close enough to visit as she settled into her new home. With that settled, she quickly slid back down the column and landed on something ... oddly soft. "OY!" The soft rock beneath her gruffed and shrugged, knocking her clear off its back. As she rose up in alarm, Avani realized she'd landed on another dragon. Embarrassed she raised her hand and waved apologetically. "Oh, sorry! I didn't see you!" She backed away, long loops coiled half behind the pillar. The dragon-rock in question rose up, a Guardian, and stared her down with a scowl. "...'course you didn't, not unless you've got eyes on your rump!" Avani's snout drifted closer and closer to the ground. The Guardian seemed to notice this and sighed, rubbing a claw against the side of his face. "Look, no harm done ... eh? You hardly weight more than a twig." With this reassurance, she perked back up- looking the stranger over curiously. "Do you live here?" She looked around, seeing no one else. "Where's your clan?" "Yes." The Guardian answered, pushing back the white birdskull headdress he wore- the skull shading his face from the sun. "My Clan is off doing their duties, or back at the Cairn.... you're not from around here." It wasn't a question and Avani felt the bluntness of it like he'd made some kind of accusation. "No... not originally, but I am now!" She drew up, becoming much taller as her spirals coiled beneath her- chest puffed proudly. As the light hit her scales, the golden vein of ore-like metal shone through quite dazzling. The Guardian's knit brows sprung upwards, staring at her in surprise. "I suppose so..." He admitted, sitting back on his haunches as the Spiral preened. "Are you traveling alone? It's not wise. There are raiders out here... lots of predators, a Spiral like you would do much better to affiliate yourself with a clan." His wings rose upwards slightly, stretching out as if to display his amazing stature- as if to say... 'like mine'. Avani noticed, her own smaller wings fluffing out and barely getting the kind of span the Guardian possessed. "I grow things and speak to the trees-" She blurted out suddenly, expectant eyes watching him for some sign of awe. Those were big things! Her Father was a Mist Summoner! "I hope to be a shaman, like my sire-" Before she could go on, the Guardian interrupted her. "Shaman?" He leaned in close, giving her a sniff, all the beads and tiny skulls on laces around his throat and arms rattling softly. "... Me too." His eyes narrowed, but he made no motion to push her aside or deny her 'credentials'. Instead, he turned and began to walk away from the pillar. "You're welcome to join my clan then, Green Claw. I am Rohke... I could use a Nature Ambassador." Avani gawked. "W-wait... Ambassador? But I-" The Guardian stopped, turning his head back to look at her from beneath one raised wing. "But what? You're capable... you've got it easy... you've only got to prove that to yourself." He turned again, walking once more and leaving foot prints in the sand. "I already believe in you." The spiral stood there for several long minutes before she whisked forward, sending sand and dust flying up around her. "I'll do it- Avani the Ambassador has a nice ring to it!" Wait 'til I tell papa! |
