Cumulus Messenger  Cumulus lives to fly. Perhaps it is the curse of being named for a type of cloud, but he would willingly never touch land again if he could. So it was only natural that he take up a job that encouraged him to fly as much as possible. As a messenger of the kingdom, his travels take him all across Sornieth. Technically, Cumulus was due for a promotion, and a rather major one at that, ages and ages ago, but he worries that if he were to accept it, the added responsibilities would severely limit his flying time. Instead, he refuses promotion and puts up with his The one thing that has ever brought Cumulus down to Earth willingly is his beloved mate, Rain. He knows (as does most the kingdom) that he was too lowly in the social hierarchy for her to be a good match, but love is blind to such things. Their whirlwind of a romance began almost the second they met, with him constantly volunteering to delivery anything and everything to the alchemy workshop and her deciding to try and create something that would extend one's ability to stay airborne. Soon, they began to have secretive meetings until finally going public with their relationship. Prince Delphinus thinks their story is highly romantic, and will beg to hear it again and again if given the chance. Cumulus may or may not have tried numerous times to get Edur, captain of the guard, to keep the prince away. Regardless, nothing seems to work to keep the Prince away for long. Through his relationship with the magical alchemist Rain, Cumulus has discovered he had a latent magic within him for flight. His powers have been steadily increasing through training with her and the magician's guild of Silverwick, but he is still very much a beginner in his magic. Yet, what he has learned has helped in his job as messenger. Now he has faster flight and can finish deliveries in no time at all. |
