He is the Essence, the Entity of Blackreach. He feels and understands the hearts of the dragons who consider Blackreach to be their home because that is what he is. He has no solid body; he is the conglomerated desires, passions and feelings of the dragons here. An ethereal heart beats with and for the dragons who live here. The first emotion that is the core of his essence is the desire for a home. Such was the desire of Sapphorr and Leonitr. The second, just as strong as the first, was a great love for family. As more dragons came, their hearts too became part of him.
Their dark desires too became part of him. Such hatred and malice he could see in the hearts of some entered into his soul. The overwhelming animosity threatened to inundate the pure emotions that existed within his delicate self-awareness. Many dragons could feel this undulating conflict throughout the Mountain of Blackreach. They sought Mist and Sapphorr for explanations. Privately, in Mist's room with the Great Harp, she was able to call forth the intangible Essence of Blackreach.
