Orthis the Serthis Alchemist

Born on the Starfall Isles, Shara was ushered to leave home soon after reaching adulthood. It was not uncommon. Although dragons are sired with the blessing of their home deity, many are sent by their clans to other families in exchange for treasure that will support the home clan. Many end up serving other dragon gods.

Sharan came to Asyin's clan originally to be trained and exalted to serve the Plaguebringer. But while under Unar and Pastel's tutelage, Pastel and Unar noticed Sharan's talent for Huntsmagic. If she stayed, she may grow to become a truly potent Huntsmage. It was decided then that Sharan should stay and possibly become the clan's first Huntsmage.

For Sharan, this seemed like a daunting future. Yes, she enjoyed the lessons with Pastel and Unar, but to be a huntsmage, she would ultimately need to learn things very different from what Pastel and Unar can do. She will have to learn things herself. The only other training Huntsmage is Fiene, who seems not yet commited to the path. Moreover, she was the only Spiral in Asyin's clan! Or at least for quite a while. At times, she would be homesick. However short her childhood and however little she knew about the other dragons of her original clan, she can scarce forget frolicking under the starry trees of the Starwood Strand.

In a way though, the Wandering Contagion has its own charm. In the beginning of her studies, there were few resources in Asyin's hoard for her training. So instead of reading, Sharan spent more time swimming around the Wandering Contagion, learning from the land's vigor in life and voraciousness in decay. For many non-plague dragon, the first time in the Scarred Wasteland can be quite uncomfortable, if not downright traumatic. But Sharan found herself surprisingly adapted to the land. Every twirl she made in the air matched the twisting and writhing of the creeping landscpe easily, as though a concerted dance. Out here, she felt at home.

Even so, Sharan knows not to stop being vigilant. Getting carried away once caused her to spiral out of sync and come crashing into the manifold traps of the Wandering Contagion. It was also the day she met Orthis. Orthis is the residential Serthis Alchemist ambassador at Asyins' clan. Although a mishap in the Wandering Contagion would not be life threatening to a dragon of Sharan's calibre, there was no way Sharan could have gotten out with just a few scratches. It was Orthis who saved Sharan and treated her wounds. Orthis happened to be there on a casual field excursion.

Initially not thinking much of the Serthis Alchemist, Sharan soon came to respect the deep knowledge and spirit that Orthis held. Orthis, in turn, had opened up a little to Sharan. Orthis and Sharan had since partnered up in their mutual quest of learning, despite their differences in goals. Whenever Orthis is around, the two of them would surely be discussing topics from all aspects of alchemy, venomology and toxicology to elemental magic and the natural and cultural history of the Scarred Wasteland. Or occassionally a picnic-turned-expedition amidst some pungent, thriving decay.
