Alistair

Ever since he was little, Alistair had a hard time staying where he was supposed to be. Whether the expectation was "keep close to your parents", "don't stray too far from the nest", or "keep with the flight you were born in" - he tripped and stumbled over them all and kept going. It's not his fault he'd found a fascination with the Fire flight, despite being born in Ice. It's not his fault he sometimes forgets that someone's expecting him somewhere and goes off on some risky adventure instead. He's just... not good at that kind of thing.

What he is good at is being passionate and compassionate. He finds something he wants or likes and never lets go, or he finds someone he doesn't hate and gives his all to helping them. He can be crusading for more familiar rights in-clan one moment and nudging a hatchling who'd tripped to her feet in the next. He's often found in the air, getting tangled in branches because he insists that it's the fastest way to travel, all these detours to get untangled notwithstanding.

Another thing he's not quite good at is loyalty. He sticks to things, and sticks to them hard and fast and strong, but if something else comes along that seems more right to him he has no problem switching sides. Surprisingly, he hasn't lost many friends over this - none of them can find the heart to blame him when they see him with the light in his eyes and the grin in his face that mean he's found something new to be excited about. He does always come back to his old friends, eventually - the compassionate part comes into play here - but before that he's all over the place, doing what he does best and attempting what he doesn't do very good at with all his energy.
