A loyal and dedicated son of the Ice Warden, Kylar was raised to bow to the Warden’s will and to respect the teachings and knowledge that the magics imbued in Ice can bring. His parents were devout followers of the Warden, and their son did his level best to impress them and to live up to their expectations; a quiet and thoughtful boy, he poured himself into the ideals set before him and found a great calm in following the Warden and helping his Father keep the Beastclan in line. Once he reached adulthood, he decided to make a ‘Trek’; a long a dangerous walk through the darkest caverns of the Crags to seek the Warden in one’s self. Though worried, his parents saw their son off, hoping he would survive and proud of his decision.
Three weeks into his Trek, Kylar attempted to contact the Warden, using incense to stimulate his mind, and waiting until his body temperature was low enough that he could barely move. He was granted a vision in which the Warden’s voice told him that he should seek the world; find out what he could about the other lands, spread the word and will of the Warden, leave others thoughtful, and bring back what he found. As he struggled to awaken again, one last suggestion was planted in his mind; he could sacrifice something of great meaning to the Warden and would in turn be able to truly come to understand himself.
But the sacrifice had to be made at once.
Wanting badly to accept this proffered gift, and to prove his devotion to the Warden, Kylar assessed his possessions.

All he had of value was himself.

Kylar carefully severed his tongue, encased it in ice, and placed it on an alter constructed from the icy walls of the caverns; sealing it there and using the surrounding snow and ice to freeze and then sew up the wound. He waited a further 5 days in place, hoping to receive the Warden’s promised blessing.
It did not come.
Figuring that he had not offered enough, but knowing the time to offer had passed, Kylar returned home to recover; following this, he set off to do the Warden’s bidding, and traveled far and wide; though unable to speak any longer, he was able to converse through the use of a slate board and chalk. Taking with him his knowledge of healing herbs, the Icefields, and the cold intelligence the Warden prizes. After exploring the Steppes, he made his way to the Plaguelands and took brief refuge in the Lair of Tae, a foolish and gulliable Coatl he felt was empty-headed enough not to infect guests unless great offense was given. While learning what he could about the area, he was introduced to Riannon, a visitng Tundra from Dragonhome and apparent daughter of the previous Lair Leader, Anton. The sight of her stunned him; he had never seen a Tundra with such a sleek, fine coat, and such long and delicate limbs, nor one who had such an incredible aura of calm and sense about her. Knowing she was too young for him, he pushed his feelings to the side and conversed with her abut her work with the Beastclans.
It did not take many meetings from there to find that he adored her in ways he had not thought himself capable. Truly he was fortunate to find her amenable to his advances…and after that to himself.

As time passed, the relationship between the two blossomed into a passionate romance that Kylar had never understood possible, certainly his own parents had never expressed themselves the way these foreigners did, but this was even further removed; a deep, penetrating love that caused him to question everything he had claimed to stand for and treasure. Deciding to remain with Riannon, at least for a while, he made himself a place in her Lair in Dragonhome, and sweated it out as best he could. Until the calling of the Warden drove him back to the Icefields. Feeling lost and directionless, unsure if he even could remain with Ri when he was supposed to be doing the Warden’s work, he took a year’s sojourn back into the Crags in search of meaning. This journey finally granted him the gift the Warden had promised him with his sacrifice; he understood himself to not be like his parents, he understood that he could be different, could change, and could do the Warden’s will, even if he left the Warden’s sphere of influence. Accepting this as a boon, he decided to hold the lessons inside and to compile a book of notes and observations to send back to the Icefields, so that they might better understand the minds of those around them.
In the meantime, he lives happily (if a bit overheated) with his mate and their children.
Personality: Distant, burningly protective and passionate with select few, mistrustful, logical, dissonant
Mate: Riannon; a beautiful Tundra/Coatl mix who captivated his soul as much as his heart. He won’t be without her and treasures both her company and her tolerance of his habits
Familiar: A Cragward Custodian he cut from the ice of his homelands himself. He was demonstrating to his son and apprentice, Duncan how to tame the will of the Crags and mold it to serve. The spell worked better than he imagined, and he happily keeps the odd familiar about himself at Dragonhome; it won’t melt and is deliciously cool to curl up around when the world outside is simply too hot to bother with.
Friends: He prefers the company of his family, and simply keeps a list of useful acquaintances outside of his children, mate, and parents.
May the Warden's will be mighty and unchallenged.
