Biography

Ophelia
The Fortune Teller
TAilfjh.png
2qh5U7Z.gif Personality:

Her elegant taste match her appearance. Her carefully painted hide, her polished jewelry. At first glance, she appears to be a snotty dragon, but this is not the case. She is actually a lot less picky than some would believe. Her appearance is all for her job, of course. If you are going to be reading fortunes and telling the future, you have to look the part. For Ophelia, however, looking the part of a fortune teller is a small part of being one. Being a fortune teller is a lifestyle. It is a choice as much as it is a destiny. Her beliefs are ingrained in her as she has traveled the world to learn how such things as fortune telling is done. What she has learned is: look the part, believe in the part, be the part, and the future will actually speak to you. Her talents go far beyond just using a little bit of magic and a crystal ball and reading palms. She uses her intellect to see what a dragon is about, then she does her reading.
Skillful is a word to describe some other dragons. She is masterful. Her work is something she takes pride in as it is so much more than just smoke and mirrors. Still, she has never let her ego get too big. She keeps it big enough to show when she's working, so the dragons that come to see her know they can trust her predictions. Yet she keeps her ego small enough to remain humble. A perfect balance is needed for the ultimate effect. When she's not working, she changes entirely. Not too much that she's a different dragon, but the wear and tear of every day life shows. Her humble side is shown more than her egotistical one and she shows more of an interest in what other dragons did in their day, instead of the other way around.

Ophelia hates talking about her job, especially when she's not in character. While she dresses like she is working all the time, it is to keep up the appearance for any potential customers, but she drops the mystic voice and takes on a more casual tone. She also prefers time alone, as compared to spending every waking moment with other dragons. She can only spend so much time around others before she gets very tired. Ophelia is an extroverted introvert, but her extroverted side only shows when there is a client with a small bag of treasure in front of them. Her ability to switch in and out of character is a sight to behold, as she does it so smoothly. Even if she is tired and desperately needing some time alone, she can snap back into character in an instant. And any complaints she has never reaches her lips.

History:

She was born in a traveling clan. Ever since she was young she was moving. It just so happened to be that she was born in the Light lands. Other Light dragons in the clan saw her as their responsibility and they began to share their knowledge with her, offering her the teachings of their goddess. Ophelia couldn't argue with them. She rather enjoyed the teachings. She was taught how to read the world, how to read other dragons, and how to use her powers. A Water dragon in the clan taught her how to see into the future. While her element is not meant for such practices, Ophelia was able to get quick glimpses into the future as well as the past. It was when she unlocked this power that she began to notice more and more fortune tellers. While her family traveled, Ophelia stopped by fortune tellers and studied how they worked. Some of them were good, others were bad, some told the truth, and others lied. She was able to read them rather well.

When she got older, she decided to test out her new found abilities on other dragons, trying to see if she had what it took to be a fortune teller. She had the skill, she had the voice down, but no one took her seriously because her looks were not what were expected. Quickly, Ophelia began to decorate her hide with paint and apparel, trying to gain the look of a real fortune teller, even messing around with her genes until she got the perfect look down. Once she did, she was ready. For many months, she worked within her birth clan as traveling fortune teller, gaining some money for the clan and herself. As her skills and reputation grew, her home clan grew too small. She couldn't travel as much and was sometimes left behind by her home clan. One day, Ophelia wasn't able to catch up. She wrote a letter to her clan, asking them to forgive her, but she couldn't keep moving with them. So she set off to find a more permanent place to settle.

She passed through many lands she had visited before, seeing towns and cities and other clans. None of them really appealed to her. Except one. She remembered a certain clan in the Arcane region, one that had always been one of her favorites. The area the clan was in was appealing to her and she rather enjoyed the company of the dragons. She made her way to the clan, asking around until she found it. After asking for permission to join, she set up shop a few miles away. Her own private fortune telling business carved into a very pink rock. Ophelia was happy to hear she was accepted in the clan, but she kept her base of operations a distance away. She wouldn't want to flood the clan with her customers. To this day, she is happily at work, bringing in plenty of revenue to spare.
