Biography

EILIDH

Eilidh's past within Clan Clarion is complex. Born to late clan matriarch Akiko as the strongest hatchling in her litter, she was a survivor from the start. Her streak of bravery and intuition betrayed her heritage almost before her eyes opened. Still, she inherited her mother's empathy, and as a young adult, found that while she was a good leader, she most enjoyed the simpler jobs in the clan.

She took on the role of archivist, at first apprenticing under Solon. Her steady, fastidious nature made her a good fit for the job of sorting the records, and she enjoyed the peace it brought. While she was technically Solon's superior, she enjoyed his guidance, and his company. However, it wasn't to last: the Uprising of the New Order injured her and killed Solon, leaving her to fill out his role as well as her own. As the clan split into two factions and her mother was killed too, Eilidh found her feet, and took up the position of matriarch.

She struggled at first: Intuition could only take her so far when she had no experience of leading in a time of conflict. But her empathetic nature was to her benefit, as many of the dragons she led knew her and trusted her decisions. Eventually, it was this rather than her strategic prowess that won the war: When the New Order ran into trouble, they knew there was a place for them under Eilidh's rule. Loss of numbers was enough to eventually take down the New Order, and reunite the clan.

Now, in a time of peace, Eilidh finds her role in the clan relaxing again. While the Long Winter has put pressure on them to find food and survive, she is in her element. Everyday survival is what her heritage prepared her for. She has appointed a new archivist, Gwydion, and when the days are slow and quiet, she often joins him in the Hall of Records, silently pottering around the shelves. More than ever before, Eilidh loves her clan, and would follow it anywhere.
