When he first arrived to his new clan, he carried an immense weight of worry with him. The constant worry and sorrow that he might never be beautiful, that he might never be able to bring his parents the joy of seeing something beautiful come from their own colors that they hated. Still being a hatchling, he was sent straight to Seraphine and Calypso to be cared for.
A few days into his new living arrangements, Calypso became aware of how jittery the tiny fae child was, eventually getting him to open up about his worries. After that moment, she took him under hr wing, deciding to officially adopt the tiny hatchling. She began trying to lift his spirits, telling him how undesirable she herself ha initially been, How she'd been given so cheaply to a new lair after disappointing her parents with her color combination. But then she'd met Seraphine, who had seen the beauty in her colors somehow and allowed her to do the same. This is what she hoped to impart unto the sad little fae that had struck a chord with her.
After several long and thought-out conversations, she came home with a gift for him. A new set of genes and some shiny golden apparel, "fit for a king" as she'd called it. Finally, the fae was able to look at his reflection, and smiled for the first time. He was magnificent.
His earrings are a gift from his mother and he wears them with pride.
He clung to Seraphine's mane as she rushed through the tunnels to the safety of the barrier, fear and adrenaline strengthening his grip through the jerking motions of her running. He could see some others losing their grip, reaching out to help those within his grasp, while watching helplessly as others fell and tumbled back into the red mist, their screams rising shortly after.
He was one of the lucky ones, just barely making it through to the barrier. For now, he doesn't leave Seraphine's mane, hiding in it constantly. One of his earrings had fallen through the run, but thankfully he'd kept one within his grasp, catching it before it fell away. Using some weak beginners magic, he cobbled together a binding spell to hold it to his ear permanently.
