Emerald is a bright and spunky little nocturne. She loves to meet new dragons. She was content in her lair until travelers began coming. She got excited, seeing all the new dragons come and go. She wanted to travel, too. It wasn't until Kyanite came along that her wish came true. After pleading with him for what seemed like an eternity, he agreed to take her with him. She bounced excitedly, and raced off with him to their new adventure.

After a time, she came to a small encampment in the Sunbeam Ruins known as Infiralem. The place labeled itself not as a clan, but just as a rest stop or temporary home for any dragons traveling far. She and Kyanite took up residence in one of its many caverns, using it as a home base for their adventures. Kyanite quickly became close
with a blacksmith named Fervor and mostly stayed in the area of camp, but much to his concern, Emerald wanted to travel further. She began travelling back and forth between the Viridian Labyrinth, and in search of something to do, decided to collect plants and herbs for Kiri, the resident healer. While in the labyrinth she occasionally gathered spikes and thorns that had been left behind, and used them to make an armor to protect herself while exploring. Plus, they matched her scales!

The conditions of Infiralem began to get more dangerous as a few dragons turned hostile, so at her reluctance, she and Kyanite agreed to go somewhere else. Fervor caught them as they went, and uncurled his fingers to reveal a gift: a pair of beautiful clockwork wasps, each adorned with precious stones. Fervor had forged them himself. After their farewell, Emerald was more than ready for her next adventures!

~~~~~
Emerald was no fool.
She noticed how down her traveling partner Kyanice was feeling after they left Infiralem. How he would stay up hours past bedtime, beating himself over events that had nothing to do with him. How sadness seemed to take over him every time he looked at his sparkling wasp.
But she also knew he was too proud to admit all this to her. Or maybe he was trying to protect her. From what, though? Isn't everyone allowed to feel down sometimes?
She tried to cheer him up, smiling, pushing him forward, always talking about adventure. But the more she did, the more he seemed to shut down. As time went on, they started spending less and less time in dragon clans and more in nature, by themselves. It may sound glamorous, and maybe it is to some, especially to a mirror, but she was missing other people so much! Trees and animals get boring really fast.
She decided she had to do something.
One rare day were they were resting at a trading post somewhere in the Wastelands, she seized her opportunity. She went looking for a merchant that would sell her what she wanted. Having no money, she had to trade her only belonging, her whole thorn armor, and even her shiny wasp, for one of these new Scale Wingplates, imported straight form the Ashfall Wastes.
She was a bit saddened to let go off her protections at first, and wrapped herself up in rags to hide their absence (she didn't want Kyanite to feel bad about her sacrifice). But the feeling disappeared completely when she brought Kyanite his gift : she saw a glimmer in his eyes she hadn't seen in... How long had it been?
She nodded silently when her traveling partner looked up to her, tears in his eyes and told her it was time to move on. It was.
"Maybe we could visit the Ashfall Wastes next," he whispered, "I mean- I mean we could stay in a clan and maybe learn about armors like this. If that's ok with you."
She was the happiest she had been in a long while.
"Of course it's ok, you dummy!"
