Biography

Hyacinthe; derived from a Greek word meaning the blue larkspur flower

For years, I have fought to take control of my own destiny, born soulless, an empty husk filled with uncontrollable rage.
Having sown death and carnage at the time of my birth, tearing those who would raise me into mere scraps of stark white and gore, the gods refused to claim me.
My eyes empty and black, with no magic to call my own, I wandered the frozen plains of the southern kingdom. Being turned out at every dwelling for fear of what could come, the unease they felt, and the superstition that the Shade could infect me at any moment due to my godless state of limbo.
I traveled across the land, watching dragons scramble out of my path, and began to feel the overwhelming pang of loneliness. I grew bitter. I once claimed a dragon as my charge simply to have the excuse, so i might keep them in my presence, he died trying to outpace my looming shadow of protection.
The pervasive aura of darkness surrounding me grew larger, until the very air chilled around me.
It was when flying over the boiling pit, that is said to be the home of lady Plaguebringer, that I was struck by lightning, the very sky tearing open to rid the world of the oozing sore that i caused as i traversed Sorienth.
Sizzling rains of weak acid pelted my flesh as i fell from the sky, violent convulsions causing my muscles to contract, my wings stretching taught then clenching close to my sides, my perilous decent varying from a plummeting dive to a shuddering glide.
My body curled and straightened, twisting this way and that as the acrid air rushed past. Fast. Slow. Fast. Slow.
It wasn't until i found myself plunging deep into the festering pit of the Wyrmwound that i was able to regain control of my limbs, and painfully thrust my way to the surface.
There, that was where she greeted me, as my flesh began to peel away from my bones she offered me a chance to live under her name, to have the curse of my birth wiped away and replaced with her blessing.
Having survived for so long on my own I hesitated, the muscles of my right arm sloughed down the bone, having separated from my shoulder on impact with the acid in the pit. I would not survive this.
Nodding my consent to her blessing, i saw her smile, before the world went dark.

When i awoke once more it was to the sight of wriggling roots, tangled around a pair of clear gelatinous eggs. "as payment for my gift bestowed upon you, you must take these dragons under your mighty wing. Teach them to survive as you have, using cunning and prevalence. Mayhap they will teach you a lesson as well, in time."
With that the horrifyingly beautiful goddess turned and lifted into the air, mighty wings taking her back to the Wyrmwound. Leaving me here, in the role of impending parent. I might have been better off sinking to the bottom of the festering pit.
