The Spy

While the blood colored skydancer may present herself as an ambassador to outsiders, the truth is that Ada is the clan's spy.

Early in the clan's history, Ada's skill as a spy and intelligence gatherer enabled the - previously much smaller* - clan to have an intellectual edge over rival clans within the Shadow Flight territories.

*Additionally, this was before the clan had migrated to the Tidelord's domain

Before the clan grew in number and had the warriors necessary to defend the territory, the skydancer's skills were an invaluable tool that kept the tiny clan ahead of other much larger and aggressive clans.

Even today, Atavism still employs the resident spy on occasion when it's more beneficial compared to an aggressive show of force.

Despite her innate talent as a skydancer to read the energies and disposition of dragons and other creatures, Ada has trained herself to go beyond her natural abilities.

The skydancer is master at reading a stranger's body language, tone, and various other tells that could give away a dragon's secrets when she goes to negotiate amidst strangers.

Combined with August's gift for tall tales, Atavism was - and is - able to harness the intelligence gathered from Ada's efforts and put it to good use to defend the clan in the past.

Specifically, Atavism would use her friends' abilities in order to manipulate the alliances of other clans.

For instance, the leader would use these tools to either pit the clans' rivals against one other or ally with another's enemy for a temporary period in order to avoid engaging another larger and stronger clan on the battlefield.

To this day, the three dragons are the best of confidants because of the vast amount of daylight they spent brooding and brainstorming over where best to employ their limited resources.
