Merope
Creative + Dramatic + Patient
“Actors are agents of change. A film, a piece of theatre, a piece of music, or a book can make a difference. It can change the world.”
― Alan Rickman

Born among the glowing mushrooms and the hanging lanterns of the Wispwillow Grove, Merope grew up with the knowledge that she had a higher calling. At first the young one believed herself destined to be one of the Shadowbinder's handmaidens, young dragons who never mated and pursued the pleasures of the Shadow Queen's will. For a while she trained in this position for most of her childhood and well into her teens before her home clan hit a rough spot. Food began to run scarce, and many could be heard whispering that the Shadowbinder had lost favor with the clan.

Faced with the imminent starvation of the clan, many of the can began a mass exodus trying to find other clans that held enough food to feed the extra mouths. Merope, distraught but unwavering at first remained with her parents in the clan, though they often tried to encourage her to seek her calling elsewhere. Soon enough, when it became truly clear that the clan wouldn't recover soon, the young Coatl found that she had to leave or starve to prove her loyalty to the Shadowbinder. Choosing life, she left, following the internal compass of all Coatls back towards the Ashfall Wastes.

During her time on the road, the young dragon met a group of travelers, members of a clan widely known in their section of the Windswept Plateau known as the Passus Canorous. Intrigued, she followed them for a while, finding herself swept up in their nightly plays that lead to gaining food or shelter with other clans. Slowly, Merope found that she quite enjoyed the acting, that she had a talent for it. Making a choice, she went back to the troupe with the traveling group, and taking a shine to the playwright of the clan, Icarus. Though she knows little about the history of what she acts out, she loves the words and flowing nature of Icarus's writing. She works as an idea bouncer for her mate, letting him tell her his new plots and suggesting twists that might make them a little more dramatic.
