Aragonit was cold. It had snowed all day yesterday, and the cold and wet had made him grumpy. He much preferred sunshiney days. But his mate, Peachy, loved the snow and insisted they go to the Holiday Festival as they had originally planned. After all, the sky was clear, and they could bundle against the cold. She promised him they'd go back on a sunny day. AND she's even make him his favorite strudel for breakfast the next morning. Well, he couldn't say no that.
Truthfully, he couldn't say no to Peachy. Even on the most dreary days, she brought sunshine into his life. And he loved seeing her all happy and excited as she drug him from site to game to booth around the Faire. Now he found himself at a little kiosk wagon with big gingerbread cookies hanging from the rafters. As much as Peachy liked to bake, this was something he hadn't seen since he was a hatchling! The smell of ginger took him back to cozy days with his Dame and Sire as they spent snowy Holiday evenings cuddled warm inside their lair in front of a roaring fire.
Smiling at the memory, Aragonit realized Peachy had found them cookies while he wasn't paying attention. Standing in front of him, she triumphantly held up one.
“Look!” she said excitedly. “I was going to get you another one with chains of leaves in frosting that said Ich Liebe Dich but then I saw this one. It's decorated with your colors!!!”
Indeed it was. Thanking her, he accepted the cookie, and took a big bite out of it while Peachy nibbled on hers. Delicious! Just as he remembered.
Looking at her made, Peachy said, “Now aren't you glad we came?”
Nodding, Aragonit started to take another bite but she stopped him.
“Wait, there's a tag on the cord with your name on it!”
