“Umbriel, I have to say, you look better today than you did yesterday. And yesterday was an outstanding achievement in dragon fashion, models everywhere would be jealous.” Andromeda said, sauntering up to the other Imperial.

They were going to this sort of carnival thing that was going to be nearby, and both of them had just gotten ready. Well, Andromeda had taken a few more minutes since she had a more...glamorous style. But still. That was to be expected.

Umbriel had worn normal clothes instead of her uniform for the last two days because Andromeda had insisted that they drew more attention to themselves when she was in head to toe gear, and Andromeda was honestly living for seeing her in adorable outfits.

“Thank you.” Umbriel said, looking away in that cute way she did when she was embarrassed. “Are you ready to go?”

“Yep, all set.” Andromeda said. “Now that I have my lovely bodyguard with me. So that I don’t get kidnapped or whatever it is that everyone’s so afraid of.”

“I think ‘murder’ is that big one that freaks people out.” Umbriel said, ushering Andromeda outside so that they could make their way to their destination.

“Ugh. I highly doubt that these dragons would murder their queen. They love me.”

“Andromeda, please.” Umbriel said, and she sounded a bit upset.

With a dramatic sigh, Andromeda stopped talking about her own murder.

“Fine, fine. But what about the kidnapping? Are they not afraid of that?”

“Of course they are. We all are.” Umbriel said, frowning.

“But honestly, who’s gonna kidnap me? Who could deal with my constant talking for that long? I don’t think it’s really something to be afraid of.”

“If i can deal with your constant talking, I’m sure it won’t be a problem for kidnappers.”

“Aw, but you love my chatterbox nature, don’t you? Don’t pretend you just ‘deal with it.’” Andromeda said, bumping into Umbriel with her shoulder.

Umbriel didn’t answer.

Andromeda played it up, as per usual.

“Ooh, you do!! You love me, you love me. I knew it.” She sing songed, wrapping an arm around Umbriel in a sort of weird side hug thing, the best she could do while walking.

Umbriel was practically radiating embarrassment.

Andromeda stayed like this, draped around the other Imp, for several long moments, waiting for Umbriel to say something in response.

It was apparent when she was getting ready to speak by the tensing of her body, the quickening of her breathing. She always coiled up when she was anxious, made herself hard to avoid seeming soft. She hated that she experienced insecurity and doubt and all of these other “bad” thing, but Andromeda had told her repeatedly that they were just things that made her, her, and they weren’t anything to be ashamed of at all.

She waited for whatever highly anticipated reply was about to come.

And then:

“Yes.” Was the only word she uttered quietly, quickly, slipping out of Andromeda’s grip, rushing ahead.

Andromeda stood there, in the middle of the path, shocked, for a second. Umbriel had never admitted to liking her before, only quipped back with something vaguely flirty or nervous.

She was practically running away after saying it too, which was the cutest.

“Hurry up if you don’t wanna miss anything!” She shouted back, but Andromeda was literally dying so she didn’t quite hear.

She ran forward anyway though, to tackle Umbriel in a proper hug.
