Malphas

Not many know of Malphas’s past. He is from a royal Plague bloodline. He had a strong desire to leave and create his own Clan. Other than that, his history, shrouded in secrecy and filled with unknown suffering, is reserved only for the ears of those most trustworthy to him.

Most see him as the proud founder of the Clan, and Malphas has become a beloved leader among all that he protects. As the leader, he conducts Clan diplomacy—aiming to end troubles before they begin. He also leads the charge when it comes to…acquiring…treasure. He is always the one to lead raids on other Clans and Beastclans, and to search forests, rivers, and cave systems for valuables. In fact, nearly half of all the Clan’s income comes from its devoted leader.

But age takes its toll, even on the best of dragons. In his prior years of leading the Clan, Malphas bore a war garment of crow bones, as a symbol of his status and ruthlessness in battle. Now, though, seeing his advancing age, those who care for him dearest have convinced him (and not easily) to retire from the thrill of battle. After removing from him this staple of command, the Clan presented Malphas with golden silks, showing his status as leader and as a part of dragonblood royalty.

But not all of the Clan have enjoyed life under Malphas’s rule. Two specific dragons by the names of Eolian and Mammon keep their leader under scrutinizing gazes. When the Clan suggested that Malphas retire his war-shepherd ways, none other than Eolian—a prince from a royal Nature bloodline—saw a ripe opportunity.

It was an opportunity to seize control.

Luckily for this stalwart leader, few dragons found fault with the way Malphas ran his Clan, and the voices of Eolian and his followers were quickly squelched. But this attempt at overthrowing his reign affected Malphas more than he let on; he decided to appoint a “second-in-command”. The leader decided that his most trustworthy friend, Shinigami, would lead the Clan should anything were to happen to him. Itzal and Metztli, both long-time friends to Malphas, also act as the leader’s undeclared advisors.
