Biography
Donning golden armour and wings, the large imperial called Helix took up residence in the clan controlled by the stone-skinned guardian Kaede and has since watched it flourish, rising to the position of commanding officer. Scouting, hunting and partaking in many squabbles for land, Helix is quick to a fight, though his intimidating size resolves many arguments in itself. His story is rather taxing, causing the still young imperial to feel rather akin to the old warrior Khyber, who’d left the clan to serve the Stormcatcher many moons ago. Whilst it isn't a pleasant tale, it is one he has declared to own.
One day, as all stories start, while patrolling the borders for potential threats, Helix came across a clump of red blood and scales, a mane tattered and frayed, scars crossing back and limbs; this imperial dragon had been reduced to nothing but a pile of broken flesh. He slowly approached the dead looking imperial, wary that it’s attackers may still lay in wait. Helix noted the bloodied gems that spread across the imperial's wings and limbs like a disease, the way the black hood covered it’s face, how the crimson clotted the black furred arm and leg wraps it donned. He did not, however, note the slow breaths the beast emitted. Quicker than he had expected, the blood dragon rose up and slashed at his throat, managing a scar that still paints his skin: reminding him of their initial meeting. The imperial was a rogue, a thief that had fought her way through a life of stealing and battle. It was a quick subduing before Helix could ask her name and story, and although she was nothing similar to what he represented- he lived a life of loyalty, honour and valiant warrior-Helix still found himself entranced with her. The imperial was called Pearce, the ‘Bloody Baroness’ Helix had told her, and through snarls, claws and clashing fangs the pair felt the gentle bloom of affection form. Kaede had welcomed the reluctant Pearce into the clan under the careful eye of Helix, and the clan’s mortician Keto had unenthusiastically aided in the healing of her grievous injuries.
Moons passed and soon she’d become accustomed to the culture around her and Helix found himself at her every beck and call, being as they called ‘head-over-heels’ for her. They'd partnered up, started their own family and watched as their children grew up and left for bigger and brighter things. They were happy, but Pearce grew restless, watching her children go off to live their full lives. A dragon's life is long, and she felt as if she'd started her home life too early. Helix simply kept guarding the clan, patrolling and hunting whilst Pearce laid nests and watched her partner do the same thing day after day. After hatching their second nest of three, Pearce grew distant, leaving for days at a time, ignoring her playful hatchlings, sleeping elsewhere, without Helix. And as all good things do, this blossoming love wilted to a bitter end. Raising the three hatchlings on his own, Helix grew angry at Pearce. For what else did she need? She had a loving partner and children who grew up strong, healthy and independent. This blooming hatred infected his body like the gems that scarred his flesh... and hers.
