Biography
Sylva
[The Fallen Priestess]
Sylva is the chosen prophet of Yansaba village in Kokusana forest. Raised as a Draconic human priestess since the moment she could speak, she helped out around the village, well loved by all. One day, a lost group of humans had found their way into Yansaba village, and though it rarely happens, the Yansaba villagers welcomed them with open arms and hospitality as they redirected them to the proper way. However, this group of humans had deemed themselves as "dragon slayers" and despite the Yansaba being also part human, the despicable group slaughtered all within the village. Sylva, still a young lady at the time, was hiding in the temple with her mother during it all. Until the group found the Village temple, there was no where else left to run. The conquerors had already been setting the village aflame, and to the temple as well in an attempt to smoke the remaining out. Sylva's mother then revealed to her that she was not her real mother, and that Sylva had been born from an ancient treasured pearl that the village kept for many centuries as a relic of their past. "Go now, my beloved daughter. Even if we are not bound by blood we are still bound by the love I have for you. Flee, I will hold them off. I hope... That some day god's power will finally reveal itself to you and that you never lose faith in our god. Do not cry, if I must die for my child, then it is a death I will fully accept." With that, Sylva fled the now burning Yansaba village, tears flowing as she heard the blade that pierced her mother behind her. Despite being raised a priestess her whole life and her mother's words, Sylva cursed the gods that allowed this to happen. How cruel a god could be to let their most devout worshipers fall to a lowly group of humans, and how she had not a single thing left in her world, not anymore. She didn't even know her deity's name. It was at that moment when she felt truly abandoned, Sylva felt something tighten and well up in her stomach. Before she could even react to it, she found a large pearl in her hands. Somehow, it had passed through her belly, as if she were transparent. She cursed at such a thing--perhaps this was the "god's power" her mother was referring to--but she did not want it. She had thrown the large pearl, only to have it slam into the back of a large, rather intimidating man. As she went to go apologize, the large man only looked at her with bemusement and asked for where she had been headed. She responded with, "Nowhere, sir. Probably a quiet place for myself to rot away. I have no where left to go..." Her eyes tearing up at the very fresh memory of it all, and the most unexpected event occurred. The man, whom she had mistakenly pelted with a large pearl replied to her, "Well then, little miss. If you have no where else to go and instead of letting yourself rot away to nothing, how about you join my crew? You will be kept busy but will have a 'home' once more--if you don't mind my brazen remark." Sylva looked up at the man, her eyes lit up with a small spark of life, and she nodded quietly, tears forming once more. And that was how Sylva, the priestess of a small village found her way into the great Captain Valkner's pirate crew, as she helped forsee other large ships on the Tensiivah ocean. The pearl, the "God's Power" that had allowed her to meet her "new family" was kept safe, and though she still felt bitter to the gods for what had happened to her village, she had felt that it was also this power that had brought her to her new destiny. |
