new mendoza

His tale starts right before he hatched himself from his own egg. The long bodied dragons were thrilled to have a four egg clutch to rest within their nest one summer day. It was a glorious day for the couple and they were by the nest's side to keep them safe and warm until they were ready to hatch. The brand new parents were anxious for their new hatchlings to hatch, ready to raise a family.

A while later, the day had finally come for the eggs to hatch; unfortunately it was during a rainstorm in the night. The parents scurried from their cozy positions and straight to the nest. There was a small cry that filled their ears, a cry that put a smile on both of their faces. Their first child was born and healthy. Their attention soon went to the other eggs, awaiting for their turns. Egg number two and three were starting to crumble, revealing two more healthy young hatchlings. They were so relieved that their children were well, taking this as a sign of a good future towards their family.

Realizing that there was still one more egg yet to hatch, they turned their gaze on the final egg, worry replacing excitement. The egg had not started to even shake yet. Had the hatchling died? Did the egg become rotten during the days they were by the nest without them knowing? Since the two Spiral parents were new at this, they panicked, keeping an eye on the fourth egg, while, of course, taking care of the three hatchlings.

The sky had become dark and gloomy and the parents were losing hope of this egg, believing that the egg had gone bad. The mother nudged her egg one last time, a sorrowful tear rolling down her face. They may have three other children, but losing one was still enough to break their hearts. She allowed the egg to stay in the nest, walking away to tend to her other children as the storm started to grow.

The wind lashed about outside of their lair, spraying the entrance with cold rain. The mother coiled up around the hatchlings, their father following suit. Thunder cracked as flashes of lightning lit up the entire cave of the lair. A gust of wind trespassed, shaking the last egg, however, the parents had their full attention on the three hatchlings. The egg shook a few more times before the wind finally knocked it out of the nest, causing the shell to crack. There was a small cry that had escaped through the shell, but it wasn't heard, thanks to the storm. The young dragon huddled back deeper into the safety barrier of the egg before the wind continued to roll it around like a small ball.

Crack! The egg broke completely after hitting a few boulders that was near the entrance of the lair, the hatchling soon sprawling out from the now broken egg shell. He started to whimper as another loud crack filled his ears, afraid to open his eyes, though he saw the lightning flash through his eyelids. Where was his mother? Father? They should be coming to protect him from these loud noises and bright lights. The young Spiral cried out, hoping that someone would hear him. That someone would protect him.

The wind blew again, harder this time and pushed the hatchling with all its might, rolling the light hatchling around. A lightning bolt then struck the spot where the hatchling use to be, causing him to screech in shock, but the loud thunder covered up his screech before anyone could hear him. The ground underneath him shook, crumbling down from the bolt of lightning. The Spiral hatchling tried his best to get away from the edge, but his attempt had failed him. He fell from the edge, spiraling down the cliff into who knows what. The hatchling started to cry, flapping his tiny wings that were not yet strong enough to support him. Tears streamed out from his eyes which were still closed shut. This was it for the young dragon. His life would soon come to an end and he would never know what the rest of his life would be like---

Something had took a hold of the hatchling, saving him from his death, though he could still be in danger. The hold was gentle and... warm. Was this his mother or father? No, it couldn't be. This presence felt different than what he felt when he was still in the egg. Slowly, he started to open his eyes, revealing bright lavender colored eyes. The world was below him while he was surrounded by clouds. His eyes darted every way that they could, allowing him to view the world below and the sky around him. Remembering that he was still being carried, he glanced up, seeing a light green dragon, mane that resembled clouds, and eyes that were pupil-less, yet looked gentle to look into. This dragon even had a light green aura around it. The green dragon looked down, seeing the hatchling was okay and gave him a warm smile.

The voice was something the Spiral will never forget. When the gentle dragon spoke, the Spiral felt a wave of comfort, even though he couldn't understand what he was saying. He closed his eyes again, feeling exhausted from his first and terrifying night.

Waking up, he found himself in a large patch of grass, inhabited by a small clan of dragons. These dragons had surrounded him, causing him to gasp and look around frantically for the green dragon. Failing to find this dragon, his attention went back to one of the dragons, a Mirror that looked like he was the leader of the clan. He had a small dragon, a Fae bring some insects for the Spiral to eat. The hatchling didn't hesitate to eat the bugs right away, but still kept his eyes on the dragons. Most of them had a wide and warm smile on their faces as they just watched him eat. Did the green dragon bring him here? To a better and safer home? Will he ever meet that dragon again? He needed to thank him.

Years went by and the Spiral grew. He became rebellious, thanks to the Shadow element he was born as, stealing any shiny objects, hoping that nobody would notice. He often got in trouble, yes, but he couldn't break this habit of his. There were even nights when he wondered about his parents and if they even knew that he was gone. His mind would often make up things like his parents just abandoned him because they didn't want him. Perhaps they purposely placed his egg in that spot for it to get fried by the lightning bolt. He had no clue, and sometimes he wished he could go back, find them, and ask them what really happened.

The clan started to change and he started to steal more and expensive items, collecting them to his small horde. One of the pieces he took was a dark head wrap that he keeps around his head and nostrils, quieting his breath whenever he goes on his raids. He even started flirting with the mares, even if his coloration wasn't the best. He didn't care. Flirting was only for fun and to pass the time, not to actually find a mate. Settling down and having a family didn't seem like it was right for him, so he would try his best to just make this into a game.

Though he flirts, he started to become cold-hearted and looked for any type of business that had a good price. He even trained himself to be strong and more importantly, fast. He has trained himself to be quick enough to glide just a mere inches above the ground with his claws tucked tightly at his sides. This skilled impressed quite a few dragons after a while, despite him using it for stealth and stealing, and sometimes getting away silently.

He had found himself being fond of birds of every kind, wearing a few bird skulls to prove it, decorated with little green and blue beads. This fondness of birds came to be from the fact that birds reminded him of the green dragon that had saved him when he was just a hatchling. He vowed to himself that he would one day see this dragon once more to be sure to properly thank it for rescuing and giving him to a good family and home. He would never admit it, but he is grateful to be where he is today (even though the rest of the clan members might not like his thieving habits too much, but they've grown use to it now).

His story continues on today. Meeting new ladies, stealing treasure and finding it from old ruins, and giving his clan some mischief. He doesn't and has never talked about his past to anyone outside of his clan, and will probably remain that way until he breathes his very last breath of life.
