The water flight is renowned for their gifted Seers. Tui, however, was blessed by the Tidelord in a curious and largely unheard of way. She cannot See events that have already been or have not yet come to pass; Tui can See the truth. Like many others she became restless in her adolescence, and left the depths to see more of the Tidelord's domain. Her Sight served her well, and she eventually found a small settlement on an island by the northern shores. For a while, all was well. She could see the world above water for the first time, could feel the salty wind and sun on her dark scales. In the distance, she could even make out the faintest outline of trees on the dark cliffs of the edge of the Tangled Wood. But then a certain Guardian blew into the clan, claiming to be a prophet of the Tidelord himself and that the clan was doomed for disaster. The settlement's Seers scoffed at first, for they had no such visions. But then, little by little, his predictions started to come true. The clan's treasury was ransacked, food went missing, a hatchling was lost at sea... in their panic, the clan turned to the prophet blindly, begging him to save them all. Only Tui could see the false prophet's lies, knew he didn't really chase off the attackers or valiantly try to save the youngling. He was the disaster. But none believed her desperate pleas; they were too afraid and clung desperately to the Guardian's every word. Defeated, she left the island and headed to shore with a heavy heart. She first met Cael not long after she first arrived at the Sanctum. He appeared full of life, confidence, and good cheer. But Tui saw through him, as she had with so many others. But there was no malice this time, no greed - if anything, his truth seemed sad. When he told her she was the most beautiful dragoness he had ever seen, she knew he wasn't lying. When he said he wanted nothing more than to be her lifemate, she believed him. And when he finally shared his secrets, she knew she was right to trust him. Tui doesn't have much of an official role in the clan, mostly residing under Cael's board. Only Cael knows of her true gift outside of Arael and her advisors, and she is often called upon to help settle disputes and advise on trials when the truth is needed. Tui has been a calm and comforting presence in the Sanctum for a long time, and all admire her great wisdom and incredible 'intuition'. Despite her introversion, the clan knows her to give the best advice and to never turn down a dragon in need of reassurance and guidance. |
