FAMILIAR

Uh-oh, looks like this purple rebel wandered a little too far from his lair (Moonwater, #154850), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here.

Fluorite is a bit aggressive... and a rebel. A few dragons once made fun of him for being purple. They, of course, also mentioned that his name was that of a gemstone. He responded by breaking the front legs of two, and ripping five scales off of the snout of the other. Don't. Tease. Him. About. His. Color. He's sensitive!

He and his brother, Daiquiri, have left the Mystical Moon Water Clan, their birth clan, and are travelling together!

Fluorite and his brother arrived in the Wispwillow Grove after a long time of traveling, and they were incredibly worn from the trip. His brother was ever excited to be somewhere new, but he was not. There was murk everywhere, and he had stepped on many thorns from the brambles of the outer regions. There was no clear source of water; all the streams they came across had a black oily look, and being so brightly colored they scared away all prey from very far away. They came across a few Nocturnes gathered together, and they took pity on the two, leading them back to their lair where they were able to rest and recover. There they met a myriad of different dragons, hailing from all Flights. Some were scary, like the Necromancer, but most were fairly friendly. They enjoyed their time in the lair, but Fluorite urged his brother to move on, since he was fairly fed up with his time in the Tangled Wood. He eventually gave in, and on their journey went.

On the way, his brother became lost. Fluorite became furious, wondering what could have possibly gotten his brother lost, but his new mission was to find his brother!

Fluorite happened upon Abel's clan not long after he and his brother were separated. He was welcomed to stay and rest as long as he needed. When he asked if they had seen his brother, he was unsurprised to hear that they had not. He was surprised, however, by the way the clan's matriarch Sabrina offered to help him search. She seemed genuinely upset for him, and offered any resources at her disposal that may aid him.

Despite his ill temper and impatience, several of the dragons here helped Fluorite search, flying as far as they could with him without causing trouble with other clans. Even Sabrina herself flew with him much of the time. And when they were back in their own lair to rest in between these flights they offered Fluorite whatever food and other things he needed. Most seemed to attribute his temper to the fact that his brother was lost and nothing else.

Soon Fluorite grew impatient, and he knew that their searching wouldn't do any more good. He had to move on and keep looking elsewhere. He thanked Sabrina and her family for their help and left in a hurry.

When he arrived on the outskirts of Kira's territory, he was first questioned by Knox, and later by Kira herself. His tried his best to remain calm during the questioning, but occasionally it flared up, especially when they asked how long he would like to stay with them. Angrily, he told them he still wished to find his brother, and that he would most likely not stay here long.

To his surprise, Kira laughed. He was confused at first, but that quickly turned to anger. He hollered at her, telling Kira that she shouldn't laugh at him, that he wanted to reach his brother again.

Then she asked why. Had he not traveled with his brother before? Had he not wished to press further, unhappy with the land they first reached? Did he miss his brother, or did he just wish to continue traveling? She asked many questions like these, and he did not yet have the answer for any.

She sent him to Epsilon, the clan witch. "Perhaps she can help you on your way," she had told him.

After spending several months with the clan, Fluorite left, though it was different from before. Epsilon had taught him many things, a few potions, hexes, and charms, mostly. She had let him open up and confess that his love of travel may have been what split him and his brother up. She packed him a bag, and he left during the night.

It was just a short flight from the Starfall Isles to the Windswept Plateau. Fluorite flew over the fabled flight border that had been the site of not one, but two Dominance battles. It was called the Windstar Bay, in honour of its current occupiers. While sunbathing by the water's edge, his light was blocked by a Skydancer who was flying overhead. He yelled at her to get lost, and was shocked when she turned around and yelled right back at him. The two proceeded to engage in a verbal battle that lasted almost half the day.

Somehow, the argument turned to things they had lost. The dark dragon, Caledonia, spoke of her parents, who had lost their home when the Light flight invaded their Shadow home in the name of Dominance. Fluorite told her about his brother, whom he'd lost in that very same land. They realised they had a lot in common, and Cale offered him a place to stay for the night.

The two returned to the Clan of the Endless Skyline, where the clan leader, Cirrus, offered him a bamboo hut to sleep in. Fortunately for him, a Skydancer's diet is very similar to the Pearlcatcher's, so the clan was able to scrounge up some food and provisions for his trip.

Cirrus stopped him as he attempted to sneak out, handing him a bracelet forged by her mate. She told him that only Skydancers could be members of their clan, but should he ever need help in the Windswept Plateau, he need only show a Skyline dragon the bracelet, and they would help him as if he were a clanmate. Fluorite found the idea a bit out there (plus he now had extra baggage to take care of), but accepted the gift before setting off again into the world.

Whole bunch of dragons were greeting him when he arrived at the Venerable Lair. At first he was ovewhelmed by the warm welcome of the dragons and hid underneath the main nest, which was laid upon a small hill at a center of the lair. The hill had some small caves and cavities where usually the hatchlings hide from storms or invading dragons. The lair Leaders decided that he would come out on his own and would not pressure him further.

Inside the holes suddenly a large pair of keen red eyes opened right before his snout and soon Fluorite noticed that he was standing on one pink spiral female, Nuuteli . After much commotion and almost fighting eachoter till death the two settled down pretty quickly. And after some weeks something unexpected happened and they laid a nest with 3 healthy eggs. But soon after the nest hatched Fluorite noticed that the all of the eggs turned out as spirals. Frustrated about this he fought with Nuuteli and accused her for cheating on him. Before Nuuteli could explain anything to him, Fluorite had left the nest and without any goodbyes he flew away from the lair.

Nuuteli named the hatchlings after different gemstones to remember him by.

Fleeing from his assumed betrayal, Flourite flew as far as his wings and provisions would carry him, often spending a night or two hungry as he scavenged once his stores had run out. Soon it became harder as he essentially island hopped his way south. At one point he though he had flown off the edge of the world until he saw a massive dragon spewing fire so hot it looked like sunshine into the sky. However that was the last thing he saw before plummeting to the ground.

When he woke A much smaller dragon from the monstrosity he had seen outside was sitting beside him. She was plain, holding no decoration save the swirling tattoos on her leg and wings. Her horns appeared dyed as well, contrasting with the red spines that pushed from her scales. Once she noticed he was awake she pushed his familiar back towards him as well as his bracelet, necklace, and headwrap. She explained that they had found him weak and that dead dragons don't need treasures or familiars. Her blunt way of putting that made his stomach turn. He had to find his brother still after all.

In imp came in next, draped in the regalia of the Tidelord. The first dragon, who still hadn't introduced herself, spoke again. The water dragon spoke quietly, her voice sounding like a whale song, low and melodic. Almost enchanting. Flourite reminded himself of the last time that he let himself get close to another dragon. Plus he was sure that this water dragon could easily squish him. She gave a small inclination of her head before leaving the room.

He was granted a room and a set time in the heated springs before the hunting parties would return. Once he was all cleaned up he heard some music and decided to follow it. A little brightly coloured Nocturn was making the bird calls and music. She squeaked when she saw him and scurried away to the shadow. When he got to the dining hall the guardian helped him to a seat, with all the other new temporary members of the lair. He was surprised to see the little Nocturn eating with the others and chatting away happily.

Weeks passed and he grew closer to the little nocturn, steering well clear of the massive Imperial he had seen outside the lair first and her terrifying mate. He learned that the Nocturns name was Mourning Dove. It made sense with all the calls she made. However he learned that she made those calls so that the sick, elderly, and soon to be exalted warriors could find some peace. The Mourning part of her name made sense after that. It was after weeks of having to follow her around the substantial lair that he let himself have another batch of hatchlings.
