Upon the highest peak within the Starfall Isles sits the most ancient of Arcane Clans. Among the ruins of this place where science and magic meet in the most alluring and deadliest of ways, the young Coatl tumbled from his egg, feathers damp and sticking to each other. A rarity among the clan, the young one was a sight of darker beauty among the clan with his deep green coat and wings with the bright red underbelly as a peeking surprise. Given that the clan lived in the heart of feverish study lands where observations of the sky and assistance to the Arcanist was common, the young one was often left alone with the other hatchlings of the clan to enjoy the moderate climate of the islands.

It was during one of these along periods that he stumbled into a nest of Onyx Cobras and was bitten numerous times. For a few days it looked as though the bites had merely been an irritation but soon enough the bright red feathers of his belly began to fade and rubies began to appear upon his face. At first it was the face, then it was the his hands and feet, slowly growing in clumps and numbers until his body was covered. Despairing at how the gems grew rapidly and being unable to find a cure among the neighboring clans, the young Holly chose to leave at once, having read in the runes he'd been training to learn that there was another clan out there with a slowing solution.

It took many days as the gems upon his wings weighed down the buoyant feathers, forcing the young Coatl to fly low in the sky. Many who saw him were repulsed and refused to offer any sort of aid at all as he continued on his quest. In time however, he came to the clan settled on the far side of the Windswept Plateau, a travelling clan who's name was starting to echo around the neighboring clans, the Passus Canorous. Moved by his plea to help, the troupe of dragons allowed Holly to remain, providing medical aid and potions that help slow the growth of the gems on his body.

Shortly after his arrival into the clan, a young Imperial named Ivy joined the clan after her own battle with gembond had proven unsuccessful on her own. Drawn to her because similar colors and the general understanding of how difficult it was to live with gembond. He's aware that his mate is rather harsh behind his back, preferring to bully her way around the clan, and tends to make certain she knows he's nearby. Though she thinks her fighting upsets him, he doesn't particularly mind the fighting so much as the fact she's bullying others. Though his official role in the clan is as a runes reader and aiding some of the other mystics in the clan, he also acts as a part-time warrior following his mate on patrols.
