"You know, Velvet! Like the cake? Red velvet cake? Oh, forget it."

There are many things Velvet likes in this world. Birds. Butterflies. The feel of her own scales.

But the thing she most likes? Money.

As it turned out, while there were many great minds in the Philosophers, most of them weren't very good at managing their own funds. Crowell was too focused and forgetful, Colichemarde was too miserly, and Vanwinkle would just mirror the mindset of whatever other leader was with her when she was shopping. All of the others tended to favor their own pursuits and studies when buying supplies, leaving nothing for the others.

It was stupid enough that eventually, Velvet forced herself into Colichemarde's lair and demanded that they instate a treasurer. Which, naturally, meant herself.

Since Velvet's appointment, there haven't been so many little crisises, everyone generally gets what they need for their work, and they actually keep some coin in the clan's coffers. And that's the way she likes it.

On the side, she's been dabbling with selling off some of the clan's crafts and loot. Hopefully, she can even convince some of the more stubborn and absentminded members of the clan to even try to profit off of their work. It's been slow going, though, with Nephrite being the only one to really consent to this idea.
