Nix was different from the rest of her clan, and it wasn't because she was the most stubborn Nocturne. It wasn't that she could never concentrate on one subject for long, either. No, what set Nix apart was her eyes. Or more specifically, her minty-colored left. The explanation for this phenomenon was simple: Nix had been carried from her nest as an egg. Tugged along by the current, she floated down a creek until she was deposited along the shores of the Bamboo Falls. Although she was eventually recovered, the weeks spent in the Windsinger's territory did have an effect on her. As water and wind are opposing elements, Nix had no control whatsoever over the breezes and gusts. The only time they'd react was when she experienced overwhelming emotions. And as she detested her water magics, she began to rely on physical prowess instead of magical. She began to disguise herself as a weak wind elemental. Water and Wind, what a contrasting combination. Reclusive and friendly. Mysterious and joyful. Like a current of the ocean or a breeze in the air, Nix wandered across the entire continent of Sornieth. Nix fell ill when she was caught unprepared in a blizzard. A small clan of ice dragons took her in. She was accepted with some hostility, for although the lightning-borne leader felt she could stay, the rest of the clan was wary of any newcomers, especially ones with multi-colored eyes. Although she only needed to stay until she was healed, the ice dragons became grudgingly accepting of her until she was no longer an outsider but an adopted member of their clan. Nix decided not to leave; it had taken her months to earn their trust and she wasn't going to throw it away. Astrapi, the clan's leader, took her under her wing. Nix unknowing began to mimic the lightning dragon's aloof-yet-passionate attitude. She was astonished when the Mirror announced that she was to be the heiress. When Astrapi and her mate Adamek left to serve directly under the Icewarden, Nix assumed the role of Leader and Imperator. She laid two nests in order to produce an heir, but none of her heirs stayed long. All four of her hatchlings left the clan, some for the Fortress of Ends, others for different flights. Nix pushed this disappointment to the back of her mind as well. As clan leader, she had no time to dwell on what-ifs. In fact, none of her actions as Imperator seemed to go well. She succeeded in allying her clan with Pinkie's, but that was about it. Politics weren't her thing, she realized. She'd much rather be slashing at some creature in the Coliseum than carefully exchanging words with some foreign ambassador. Mere months into her leadership, a horde of beastclan members launched an attack on the clan. Nix rallied her clanmates, and although they fought valiantly, they were overrun. Dragons fell. Beasts did too. But eventually, she and the others were forced to flee for their lives. |

Enough heat, I am back to my cold ways again. It is my weakness, I blame those pretty snowflakes. Nix is gorgeous noc girl, and well dressed to be the perfect icy dragon she is. Even though not that visible, I do like the use of giraffe (my new found love) and freckle that I've always liked. And her name is so simple, yet it has that little edge, Nix, just cool. Haha cool. (very clever).
