Biography
Heroic
Hatched in the reaches of the Windwalker Tribe, the young snapper soon learned to use her innate magic to fly. Not elegantly like pearlcatchers nor fast like skydancers, and nothing at all like the aerial mastery that spirals display, but flight it was. Following a bright green and orange beetle for a long time, as its iridescent carapace fascinated her, she ended up far away from home. Scared and alone on the bank of the huge body of water that is The Sea of a Thousand Currents, she was relieved to see a familiar glimmer of crystalline hide in the distance.
However, when she got there it was not her parents nor her siblings; it was yet another leaf beetle. Getting desperate, she flew up high, searching for the green shine of her family. Seeing a green shape too large to be a bug, she dove towards it at full speed.
A then unnamed mirror from Light, exhausted after a long travel through desert and fields of fire, was delighted to finally see glimmering water in the distance. His reflective scales had saved him from the worst of the heat, but dehydration and fatigue kept him on the ground as he worked his way slowly across the rugged terrain. The winds had gotten stronger and were battering at him, and his stomach twisted in pangs of hunger; there had been little meat to find for one so badly camouflaged as he was. Glancing up to see if the coast had gotten closer, he noticed movement above his head just in time to dodge a falling, flailing snapper.
After a less-than-smooth landing, the snapper was disheartened to find the dragon with scales like her own was not of her kin; a stranger from the flight of Light, going by his yellow eyes. His story was hilariously like her own; he, too, had followed the beetles. He had thought they were his family group. His stomach soon outroared their pitiful laughter, and so they made their way to the shore. They were still lost, but being together about it made it somewhat less frightening. Both were less than six days old, not yet fledglings and not at all old enough to manage on their own.
By the time they reached the water's edge, the sun had dipped below the horizon. Its soft, red rays illuminated the waves, and they sparkled and shone much like a flight of crystalline dragons. After filling their empty bellies with water, the hatchlings fell into a fitful sleep that was soon to be disrupted. Three snarling wind mirrors pounced, jolting the lost young ones awake and shaking them violently in maws of terrible teeth. The message was clear; this was their territory, and intruders were not tolerated. The wounded hatchlings fled as soon as the maws let go.
The two green ones were hungry, tired, and bleeding from shallow cuts. Desperate, they did what any less proud creature would do the instant its mother was out of sight; they cried for help. to be continued~
