Oleander | Olya    ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮ " The hardest decisions often reap the best rewards." - FORGE - ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Although she is the functioning Chef of Clan LockCharge, Forge comes from a long history of mistakes. She was born as a Fae in a Water Clan and saddled with the name Oleander, which she immediately discarded under the pretense that it was too stuffy for her. She immediately took a liking to being a smith as she never felt more alive or happy than when she could manipulate metal with her small claws and create something functional. As many lovely things as she made, Forge still made her clanmates uncomfortable, afterall, Fire and Water don’t mix well. Sensing their disdain for her craft, Forge left behind her clan, her family—including a grandsire who was sad to see her go, and all that she knew in order to perfect her craft in the Ashfall Waste. Years of toiling at the forges made Forge the best smith that many would ever encounter, but that was when disaster struck. An accident in the forge led to both her wings being burned into little more than blackened stumps. Ashamed of her failure and determined to fix herself, she traveled to Light Flight to study the well-recorded methods of forging in their archives. Locked away in her smithy, many dragons forgot that she ever existed at all. The years passed, and Forge finally completed her work: forging a perfect pair of wings out of metal and fabric. She was old now, but happy to once again to see the sky and feel the wind on her face. It was then that Forge decided she would no longer stay locked away in her smithy; no, she was going to travel and see the world, but first, she needed to return to her roots. Forge went home. She arrived at her old Water Flight home only to realize that her clan had moved on. Everyone who ever knew or cared about her, including her grandsire, had moved themselves to Lightning Flight. Using her new wings, Forge decided to find them once again. She may have passed right past them if not for the intervention of a broken wing and a kind Snapper. Amidst flying over Lightning Territory, one of her prosthetics stiffened and she crashed to earth. Much to her chagrin, she discovered that one of the joints had rusted over, and without the tools or fire to fix it, she was effectively stranded. Disgruntled, she prepared to walk to the nearest camp, and that was when she heard the footsteps. A beige Snapper was gazing down at her with slight astonishment, “Pardon me, might I assist you in some way?” Forge realized he may be her only choice, and politely requested to take shelter in his lair until she could fix her wings. He consented, and even insisted on carrying her back to camp. She learned that his name was Elert and scolded herself for becoming fond of him so quickly. Elert insisted that Fethryn let Forge stay in the clan as long as needed, saying she could serve the clan while he, the clan smith, could fix her wings. She disdained the idea of anyone else fixing her wings, but consented when she observed that his skill was greater than even hers. Meanwhile, Forge took the post of cooking for the clan, and while her cooking left much to be desired, she discovered that she enjoyed the mindless work. Once his work was complete, Elert was delighted to hear that Forge had chosen to stay with Clan LockCharge. At the same time, she decided to leave behind all traces of her past, including her body. She saved her pennies and eventually requisitioned various potions to give her the countenance of a Snapper and the coat of a speckled dragon. When her change was complete, she happily became mate to Elert and allowed him to make her a second set of wings for her Snapper body. Now, Forge spends her time cooking meals for the clan and coming up with newer and stranger recipes. Elert has also helped her reclaim her name, shortening Oleander to Olya.
