    Canebrake met Cascabela in an underground rendezvous, having been her best customer up until then. He believes that he has the ability to use a Pearlcatchers' pearl as something of a crystal ball - using the experience and wisdom of the proudest of the breed to understand another dragons' innermost wants and desires, as well as predict both the worst and best possible outcome of any given choice.

    He fell in love with Cascabela's products before he fell in love with her - while other dealers would be lucky to get their claws on the pearl of a hatchling, Cascabela produced the pearls of ancient, thousand-year Pearlcatchers, who she claimed to be hand-crafted by the lightweaver herself. The pearls she gave him were clearer, more lustrous, and larger than any he had seen anywhere else.

    Canebrake worships Cascabela almost as a god, and some members of the clan note that it's similar in behavior to the way that Yamarashi used to view Desdemona. He sees the opportunity to breed her as the highest honor that could be bestowed upon him.
