Citrine

Citrine is an ex-gladiator originating from a small gladiatorial pit close to Rotrock Rim. He was one of the best fighters there, and easily mowed down opponents who underestimated him just because he was older than them. Just because he's old doesn't mean he no longer has a fighting spirit. But one of his opponents, a younger Banescale that belonged to a gang from the Sea of a Thousand Currents that made a living out in the rim. The Banescale's death angered the rest of the gang, who jumped Citrine without warning and tried to drown him in the Wyrmwound. Emphasis on tried to drown him. They didn't understand exactly how the Wyrmwound worked. One of two things will happen if you touch the Wyrmwound. The first thing is that you'll die more often than not. The second thing is that the pool will turn you into an abomination of nature. And that's exactly what the pool did. The pool mutated a good chunk of his face into something that could flower open to reveal a mass of tendrils and an appendage that spits acid. With his new mutations, Citrine killed his aggressors effortlessly and fled the Scarred Wasteland, never to return. That's how he found the clan, who gave him a mask to hide his face for his troubles.
