As matriarch, one would expect Xanthias to be a typical leader; keeping the other members of her clan under control, and offering support, guidance and advice to the other dragons. Therefore, it comes as a surprise to many that Xanthias vastly prefers a hands off approach to her extended family.

She is quite a shy dragon, far happier out of the limelight than it. Unfortunately, the decisions she has made regarding taking in outsider dragons, and decisions to mingle and breed within other clans have been sound ones, leading to many to look to her for guidance nonetheless. As her first sons, the twins Kael and Sael, have grown older however, she has begun to leave the management of the clan to them, offering advice from her preferred vantage point: out of the limelight. Since the recent choice by Sael to exalt himself to serve the Arcanist, Kael has taken on full control of the clan. Xanthias wasn't especially fond of th idea of one of her first born leaving for good, but respected Sael's choice and is now rather proud of her overly excitable child for choosing a path of great responsibility.

Her relationship with the clan's patriarch, Izick, is not poor, but it isn't especially good either. While he fathered Kael and Sael, the two have never mated since, and amiably agreed it was unlikely to occur again. Instead, Xanthias met and subsequently found herself drawn to a Mirror dragon from another Arcane clan; Azana. The two dragons have since had a number of clutches of eggs, and remained exclusive partners until Azana moved permanently to Xanthias' clan. Now they are part of the same clan, their positive relationship has grown stronger and the two are rarely seen out of each other's company. Xanthias has plans to breed change in the future, in hopes of producing new heirs for the clan of a rarer breed.
