Loir didn't want to leave his old clan, but when it grew too small to survive on its own, its clan mother disbanded them. He accompanied a few dragons to the Lair by the Sea, having some faint memory of a clan alliance with them... and once he arrived, he felt adrift. He was used to being in charge! But this enormous, bustling clan didn't need him.
After a few weeks, though, he thought he could grow to like loafing.

The harpy was a rescue. Lonely and imperious by turns. Injured, too, and the clan too busy to tend to him. So Loir stitched broken feathers back together and talked with the refugee.
Talk became other things.
They take long trips together now, 'scouting.' Reina is an open-minded matriarch but why take the chance?
