Approaching footsteps carry you
Past relics old and overgrown
Over countryside and through
A bridge of crumbling ancient stone
From just beyond your line of sight
A shadow leaps and lunges near
Reflexively, you brace to fight
"What do you think you're doing here?"
A softer voice than you'd expect
From one with such ferocious eyes
Not meant to harm, but to protect
At least so far as you surmise
"Just wandering," you let her know,
And drop your arms back to your side.
She chuffs a chuckle. "Is that so?"
Tone gentle, but a little snide.
You offer an indignant huff,
Met with a condescending smile.
"I guess you look harmless enough.
Suppose, then, you can stay a while."
The fierce and flighty Morrigan
As quickly as she had appeared,
Leaps off without a word again.
....
"... okay, that was... a little weird."
