I need somewhere to record all the headcannons I have for dragons, so I'm putting them here for refrence!

I headcannon that they have similar feathers in the way that some birds (mostly ducks and other waterfowl) do- they have a gland that produces a water (or in coatl's case, fire) repelling oil.
In the case of non-fire coalts, I'd think the oil they produce probably helps repel whatever is in their environment (ex: water coatls just produce the normal repelling oil).
Now, is this idea mildly cursed? yeah, a lil, but I like the idea of coatls preening, and this would probably just be a part of that.

A thread on what other clans think of the current rebellion going on in Fire

Fire i would imagine being excellent at metalworking- beautiful sculptures of silver and iron! They'd probably be pretty good at glassblowing, and either creating beautiful clay objects or firing earth's ceramics! Maybe they work closely with earth to create the best ceramics this side of Sornieth!

when a plauge dragon dies, do they just,,, slowly get absorbed up by the great mass of wasteland? back from whence they came?
If they die outside of the wasteland, does their body mid decomposition begin to seek out the homeland? Like they die, become similar to the living wasteland, and then slowly seek it out?
this also opens up, on the flipside, the idea that when nature dragons die they become foliage, for some neat interesting oposites clans stuff

There is no 'selling' the dragons, thats just a fully non-diegetic (not existing in the world of FR itself) feature used to make things easier on us, the players!
the dragons themselves move out and about around the world! They get lost and are found by the clan, seek an apprenticeship within the clan, or just decide to move in!
Hatchlings are raised and then given the option to move or stay with the clan! most opt to find their own way in the world.

Markets do exist in my lore though (sort of mirroring the ah), and they're well known as gathering places for dragons seeking work or homes! most people walking about the marketstalls (as well as those running them) are more than open to joining clans that are there looking for more occupants!
On_Skins_and_Accents_and_their_in_world_Counterparts wrote on 2022-04-07 14:48:11:
Skins and accents in-world can be a mix of different things! Here's some headcannons (with my dragons as examples!)

A lot of the time they're handmade apparel pieces specific to that dragon.
-
Genna's wing-thingys are a sort of exoskeleton made by the lightning flight, similar to the steampunk wings, but more stylish.
Kladeos collects plant pieces to propagate. it's a problem, kladeos stop covering your scrolls in dirt and sap

Commonly, many are some form of magical projection, body paint, or tattoos. Most of the time it's a sort of mix of the three- a magically made permanent body paint mixture. It can be removed, but it takes a lot of time and magic to do so, which is why many will simply opt for the occasional body paint or magic spell. Odd, magically assisted hairstyles are also common for those breeds with fur!
-
Riko here paints her scales gold for shows, and Bubble experiments with scale dyes quite often, leading her markings to be permanent!
Shelly works with hatchlings, and has a very specific haircare routine she uses to make her hair soft and cloudlike! a little bit of magic is used, just to add a bit of extra cloudyness to it

Also somewhat common are odd genetics and magical mishaps- sometimes, something happens and the dragon is left permanently altered or changed.
-
Carmine was overloaded with fire magic for lore reasons I haven't yet fleshed out, and as such she's covered in glowing burns that are still very warm to the touch.
Wisteria hatched covered in unmelting snow. An enchantment cast by one of the guards who sealed off the banescale eggs caused it to stick to him, and it has significantly weakened his ability to use fire magic.
Plum's egg cracked early on. It was mended with shadow magic, which she didn't take well to. When she hatched, her wings were shadow-touched, much like shadow primal eyes.

Sometimes, though, it can be a more potent manifestation of the dragon's magic- sort of how the different eye types manifested after BotE, on occasion some dragons will manifest unusual scale colorations, almost as if painted on top of their hide. Depending on the amount of magic, some will even appear as if they're moving!
-
Trifid was born with an abnormal amount of arcane magic- the Arcanist's blessing, it was called. He has a high amount of magic, as well as shifting, glowing scales on his limbs!
Eir's extensive use of light magic has led to his fur and scales turning a bright, shining gold!

Not my headcannons but ones I really like:
