When Sunrise was just an unnamed hatchling in Plague, she often stood out due to her light blue and purple colors on the red landscape. She enjoyed wandering around and often looked to the horizon at the other territories. The destroyed pillar to the north always fascinated her the most. When she was only a few days old, still a small hatchling, Sunrise wandered out of Plague and into Earth Flight's territory. At first she didn't notice, but as she wandered toward the pillar the landscape changed into a dusty, rocky landscape. She was about halfway to her goal when she stopped and realized what she had done. The reality sunk in, sending Sunrise racing home. When she got back to her clan, nobody had noticed her absence was longer than usual, and nobody commented on her dusty wings. Sunrise was originally relieved she wasn't in any trouble. As she laid down to sleep that night, her mind wandered back to the Earth territory. It had been warmer. Even though she hadn't met any other dragons, it somehow also felt more welcoming than the land in Plague did. As Sunrise woke up the next morning, she shook off the last of the dust that clung to her and informed her parents that she was leaving for good. Her parents weren't upset; they knew their daughter would go where she was meant to be. With their blessing, she headed off back to Earth Flight. Along her way, she bumped into a few other dragons and clans, all were friendly, but none invited her to join. "We just don't have space, darlin'," one particularly scruffy Snapper told her before waddling off to continue digging around the area. Sunrise was becoming worried that she'd made a mistake when she bumped into a tiny Fae. "Hey wanderer," Hazelglow said. "If you're looking for a home, my clan just moved here from Lightning. We're a little tight on space, but we can squeeze a beautiful girl like you in. Welcome to Flint Den." Sunrise was overjoyed and followed Hazelglow to her new home. It was past the Shattered Plain in Greatwyrm's Breach. As she had been warned, it was a little cramped, but she was still small and found a comfortable spot quickly. Everyone quickly accepted her; especially the other Nocturnes that were flying around in the clan. After spending a few weeks with her new family, Sunrise strapped on her dust goggles and never looked back to where she came from. |
