Biography

UNNAMED
// POTION MAKER / ALCHEMIST - X

A thin layer of ash is spread across the ground, fanning out into fine grains collected in uneven patterns. Trails of claw marks and movement are clear in the dark leaden tones, causing a paler gradient towards more frequented areas. Most distinctly, you can see a barren patch where there must have been long periods of thoughtful pacing. A particularly immaculately kept space is located near the back, where there seem to be an endless amount of feathers. It is an impressive collection, some of them wholly unrecognizable while others are quite common for the area. To the left of the impeccably assorted feathers is an arrangement of perplexingly complicated alchemical and potion-making equipment. Some pieces are covered with the same fine ash as the ground, while others seem to have been cleaned to perfection. Even from the very edge of this area, you can smell an acidic tinge to the glassware that is slowly creeping through the air. You are careful not to intrude whatsoever, knowing that your every move would be recorded in the soot.

For Unnamed, life was always acidic. It bites and engulfs and burns; it erodes your flesh and strips away until it is within. It releases and hisses, constant whistles of steam blowing away your central being. This is the description spoken with the highest regard because Unnamed has realized the power of those that can affect him so deeply. Thus, his early years with the Ausesyne have resulted in a respect for them that he rarely has for any other.

It was with the Ausesyne that he discovered worth in the unworthy--that is, in feathers. Feathers, he figured, were useless when not in use for something practical. Decorations were too bland regardless of flashy colors or intricate design. Fashion, if not defensive, is frivolous. It was then that he decided to pursue potion making and alchemy, heading boldly into territory unknown. There was always a half-hearted daydream of something amazing that kept him going. It was always the promise of a breakthrough. But vows may be broken, and it almost always stung. Lacerations would appear and fade away day after day from carelessness and sleepless nights. Bruises bloomed under his from nighttime escapades to search for more materials. Burns would eat away at layers of flesh at a time. But it was when his pearl cracked that he did too.

It was a thin crack, but a crack nonetheless. It arced up the side of the pearl as a concoction bubbled nearby, a stroke of the potion slicing through the pearl in a jagged line. Splashes of the potion crackled and burned his own flesh, cutting deep and dissolving scale after scale. Days passed as Unnamed healed the scar on his pearl and left his equipment untouched. His own wounds festered as his mind wandered and dwelled in a dark place. His clanmembers of the time mended the welts that Unnamed ignored and watched on as he tried to fix the scar on his pearl. It was then that he chose to leave the Ausesyne, and it was then that their name dissolved into the Olalia.

Unnamed is a very focused soul with unfocused ideas. He aims in a general direction, but does not choose a target. He is not the classical mad scientist, nor is he a fanciful reimagining. He strikes a chord in others with a sense of realism, and is never tired of talking about his research. He is frequently busy trying to create and develop potions, though many of them result in failure. His heritage as a Shadow dragon makes for a relentlessly tricky demeanor and an almost too forceful determination to prove himself to doubters even after thousands of failures. After all, usefulness is based on perspective.

// HEADCANONS
- potionmaker, occasional alchemist when he needs to make more supplies
- obsessed with trying to make feathers a viable and useful ingredient in potions, regardless of where they come from (skydancers, harpies, sparrowmice, etc.)
- difficult to warm up to new ideas and people, but fiercely protective of those who are close to him
- naturally well-spoken and eloquent, but never maintains a consistent speed when talking. can and will take to droning on dully and transition straight into chattering without warning. it is unknown whether this is on purpose or just because he can. (inheritance of shadow eyes point to the latter.)
