The Warrior sat in the center of a circle of dragons, holding his head as high as he could. From this position he could see his legs, twisted and bent in unnatural ways, cursing him with their ineptitude. He wanted desperately to get up and fly away, but from this position, with his legs thus bent, standing was no longer an option.

"We have no use for a broken soldier." his superior told him with a shake of his head. One by one his comrades departed and the Warrior was left alone to die, in unfamiliar wind territory, with useless legs and a heavy heart.

He was woken from a fitful slumber many hours later. In the dark, he saw only the shadow of a massive hooded guardian, and his muscles tensed in fear. His heart, however, swelled with calm. He saw the green glow of her eyes and he was filled with peace.

"Come." she told him, and touched her snout to his head. And the Warrior could.

The Healer nursed him and the Builder prepared for him a set of braces. And the Light instilled in him a new love like nothing he'd felt before, and a promise to be more. He was to become the mortal force of the Light, a great power to never be used. He took to his path with diligence, for he owed the Light his life.
