Biography

…Astraeus, dozing away his pain, awoke to a glow, almost blinding, hurtling toward him. He opened his jaws wide and caught it, immediately sensing it was from Eos. She was still there! She had not left him! With the radiance he had caught from Eos rumbling in his maw, along with his own, he spit a ball of blinding light back in her direction. His half of the earth dimmed, as his entire hoard of light left him in search of Eos. Many moments passed and Eos still lay wait in complete darkness, nearly regretting sending away her light, the only thing that gave her joy other than Astraeus by her side. Half asleep, she propped open one eye, certain she had dreamt of a glow on the horizon. Wait, was she imagining a growing brightness? Without a second to spare, she leapt to catch the brilliant fireball in her jaws. He had seen! He was still there and had sent a message back! Eagerly, she mustered all the strength she could, aimed her maw, and breathed a ball of fire in his direction, which shone on half the Earth on its journey back. The Creator, pleased that the dragons had found some way to keep content in their situation, accepted the passing of the light as it allowed illumination to touch all corners of the Earth. Hence forth, the Creator deemed the lighted parts of Earth Day and the darkened parts Night, until the very ends of time.
