Sigurd was born with various chronic illnesses that led to frequent bouts of pain in his lungs, leading him to use his gills to absorb oxygen in the air and water around him. Because of this he was very mysophobic in his youth, going as far as avoiding plague dragons altogether in his original clan. The charge he found at the end of his search in his youth was one that conflicted greatly with his psyche: the study of viruses affecting dragons.

He now shuts himself away in his subterranean library as a recluse, spending most of his time drenched in decontaminated water while consuming the newest texts on viruses he can find. In addition to his extensive hoard of knowledge in the form of tablets and scrolls, Sigurd's strong focus on his charge allows him to more freely interact with any group of dragons. He acts as both an educator within the clan and assists the healers whenever he can.
