and when he was younger, such interests were unpopular and not typically tolerated. Upon reaching adulthood, Shahara abandoned his clan and left Starfall Isle. After a month of traveling and scrounging for food, he eventually stumbled upon the Redwood Lair and was immediately adopted by the High Mother into the Clan. He changed his name from the name he was given and happily wears any patterns he prefers.

Varjak named him the Head Alchemist and allows Shahara to accompany Gathering dragons in order to obtain herbs and ingredients for medicines and experiments. Now, he raises three children after two became Exalted. His first two children he shared with Xene, whom he fell in love with after having lived with High Mother Lanaya as well as her children, Merideth and Xene herself. Sadly, a dramatic squabble broke out among the small family well after the children were born, and Whitte and Dace left the lair. Very recently, Varjak learned that they had split apart and joined opposing lairs: one subject to the Flamecaller, and the other subject to the Tidelord. When Varjak learned this, they both had already been exalted.

on his studies and did not find another mate for a long time: until meeting Chrysophase during a Gathering. She is much younger than him, but they enjoyed each other's platonic company more than they felt romantic attachment. Eventually, they grew fond of each other and decided to have a family together. Now, Shahara is very happy, even after much devastation in his earlier life.
