Loyal only while it's convenient, Valen is as deceitful as they come. He doesn't do it out of spite or mean anything by it, he just doesn't particularly care about anyone else. Ironic, that he would be a healer and one of the best, moreso that he would willingly join a clan. He takes great care in healing Vorick, Jarick, and Tiamat after their travels and brawls, as well as equipping them with as many potions as he can manage. Only to give himself less work, of course.
Relationships

Vorsick
Seemingly loyal to the clan leader, Valen has yet to show anything else. Vorsick stays out of his way, and he returns the favor. The only clan member that Valen doesn't actively dislike.

Jarick
Love-hate relationship is the best way to describe the bond shared between the two. Jarick thinks Valen is a great laugh while Valen wants to send him to Wyrmwound. And yes, he has tried to do so before.

Tiamat
When the world collapses in on itself or decides to explode, it will not be the fault of the Arcanist, but the result of Tiamat and Valen trying to murder each other. Tiamat does everything in her power to make Valen suffer and Valen may or may not make her injuries worse when she needs to be healed. Tiamat has started to avoid going near him altogether, thinking of ways to poison him instead.

That would explain her Venomous Toridae.
