Rattle is the clan's machinist, always capable of fixing what is broken or collaborating with the clan's engineers to build new machines. He is quite introverted and easily overwhelmed by large groups, so he tends to stick to his office, which is small and relatively out of the way. He also devotedly maintains the clan's nesting grounds. When not working on bigger projects, he builds small contraptions to improve life around the clan, such as mechanical toys for the nursery and motorized pulley systems to transport materials better.

Rattle doesn't have many friends, which worries Lore sometimes, but he seems quite content. Everyone in the clan respects him. When he wants company he usually joins Lore in her lab or seeks out Adwen, who is always quiet enough that he knows he will not be overwhelmed.
