Flight Galebinder stretched his feathery wings and yawned, enjoying the warm tree-bark against his belly and the hot sun against his back-- life was good. Life thrived all around him, in the bustle and flow of dragons through the Clan's territory, and in the land itself; the air hummed with the beat of insect-wings, and the brush rustled as prey skulked along...it was like the forest itself breathed and beat with a pulse all it's own. And yet, he found himself wanting more. His talons dug deep furrows into the branch he rested on, fingers working restlessly-- life was good, and life was easy...but this was not the life he wanted, unfulfilled and without status, and with little opportunity to rise among the ranks of his Clan. Though the hunt was fulfilling, the meat satiating, the females lovely...this was not the place for him. A weight struck the branch beside him, glossy feathers and golden fur catching the sunlight and dominating his vision, blocking out the world around him."You look pensive, my friend." Brightcircle's voice filled his ears, as sweet as any jungle songbird's. "Fly with me awhile, let the winds ease your troubles." He was skeptical, his short wings ill-suited for flight, "I am built to run." His words and voice cut a contrast to the musical hums of the ethereal sounding Coatl, all business and short, clipped tones. As ever though, his disgruntled response was met with a laugh, "Come, come. There is something I must show you. You will like it." And then she was gone without so much as a backward glance...as though she knew that he would follow. His wings beat the air in heavy, awkward strokes, his feet meeting the trees every so often-- Galebinder flew in short leaps and bounds, just able to keep Brightcircle in his sight. She never looked back. She knew he would follow. He always did. |
