Biography

EBHp4Pj.png
"Keep your dissstance. Pleassse."

Following an accident as a hatchling involving an unwelcome dip into the Wyrmwound, Sievert has had an unusual quality - spending too much time around him causes living things, dragon and animal and plant alike, to sicken, wither, and die. In dragons and animals this sickness ranges from headaches and nausea in its mildest forms, to haemorrhaging and extremely high fevers at its worst... and enough contact results in death. Plant life around him shrivels and dies. Sievert is not immune to his own 'power' - his perpetually-emaciated body is covered in sores that do not pain him but constantly weep blood, and he also has a habit of coughing or drooling blood when he speaks, or if he exerts himself.

His birth clan, who revered the Gladekeeper, exiled him shortly after he reached maturity, fearing - quite accurately, it seems - that he had been tainted by the Plaguebringer. Though he is now technically affiliated with Hafizira's Lightning clan, he avoids contact with them so he does not inadvertently kill his new clanmates. He does, however, visit from time to time in brief enough spells that he won't cause severe injury.

Name Origin
The "sievert" is a unit of measurement used both to represent the risk of the effect of external radiation from sources outside the body, and the effect of internal irradiation due to inhaled or ingested radioactive substances.

The name of the unit is derived from Professor Rolf Maximilian Sievert, a medical physicist who played a pioneering role in the measurement of doses of radiation especially in its use in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
