Biography

Though Sparrow grew up in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, she was more interested in life above the water's surface than below it. Birds fascinated her, and at her first chance she left her birth clan for a small Wind ornithologist field outpost. She encountered Clan Naga nearby, and, after a brief flirtation with another of the researchers, settled down with her wife Harpy.

Her Goldthroated Sparrow, Herman, was found in the outpost as a fledgling, and accidentally imprinted on Sparrow. She has kept him as a familiar, though it is difficult raising wildlife to live with dragons: he screams, he needs to leave the lair frequently to stretch his wings, and he perches on Sparrow's head even when she doesn't want him to. Nevertheless, the two are inseparable.

Sparrow continues to study ornithology, and is known locally as an expert in flight patterns. Although she sticks strictly to scientific method, the subject matter of her research is a little more mystic. Being of Water flight, Sparrow has a slight ability to interpret the future; or "interpret the inferences of things that were and are to predict what will be," as she insists on putting it. What this actually means is that she has noticed the relationship between flight patterns and certain events, and she thinks that birds are more sensitive to these events than dragons. If she notices combinations of flight patterns denoting a storm, a new visitor, or a brush with death, she alerts Honeydew as soon as possible.
