Biography
Birch
Birch arrived at the Clan of Friendly Winds during the village’s second summer. He had always been one with nature and the creatures that lived within it-- even the dreaded Beast Clan members who wanted nothing to do with Dragonkind-- and what amazed him more was the relationship that dragons held with their familiars. One thing he struggled with however was finding the one familiar that would be perfect for him. From ember mice to serthis, from owls to centaurs, Birch felt that he couldn’t find that perfect one, and then he noticed the amounts of creatures the Beast Clan fighters were bringing in from their raids. Long-story-short, more familiars resided in the clan than dragons, and Dianthus and the residents seemed to have no idea what to do with them, so Birch thought to himself, “I can take care of them.”
Immediately, he set up shop near the middle of town in hopes of helping dragons find a familiar that was perfect for them while caring for the ones that were dragon-less. Rather than settling with one familiar, Birch had many, and to this day he still loves every one of them, even if he eventually has to give them away to the other dragons. Over the last few years, Birch has created many wonderful bonds between dragons and familiars. Rarely does he turn a blind eye whenever a dragon wants more than one, but there’s a bit of skepticism whenever he gains requests from the Alchemist dragons– especially when those familiars seem to “suddenly disappear”.
Although he doesn’t like to admit this out loud, the one familiar that he seemed to bond with the most was a Blacktalon Striker named Cayden. While Birch takes care of the wild creatures in his small shop, Cayden and a few other ex-beast clan members have built a small village deep in the bamboo forest– with Cayden serving as their leader. Birch ensures that none of the other dragons in the clan approaches this village without his permission, as he’s the only dragon that Cayden and its residents’ trust. The only time he allows any other dragon besides him to visit is if he feels a beast clan member and a dragon will strike up an amazing bond with one another. Both groups see this as a learning experience for both the dragon and the familiar and it’s heavily encouraged between each clan, even if this doesn’t happen often.
