Biography

tumblr_nxvz0wCzuc1uj5ydro1_540.png Everything hurts. Her head, her hands, her wings. Everything. A dull throbbing that she has become accustomed to over time, grown to be a general feeling of cold numbness. Causing goosebumps to dust her arms. Making them itch, and burn, and almost move of their own accord.

Almost

Sometimes it will flair up.
Like when she kisses her mate.
Or gives a hatchling a lolli.
Or even prays to one (or all) of the deities. It always seems to be at its worst when she prays...but it keeps the voices at bay for a while afterwards, so she continues doing it.

The voices are arguably worse than the pain. Whispering to her throughout the day. Breaking her down and building her back up just to tear her down again.
Sometimes they scream. They scream at her to do something. Something terrible.
They just get louder if she doesnt listen, she knows, but she doesnt want to listen. She doesnt want it to happen again. She refuses to let it happen again. Never again! NEVER!

...

Its hard.

Its hard not to listen. Having them there at all times, slowly eating away at you.
"It wOuLD be so Much eASIer TO Just gIVE In," They tell her.
"I know," is all she says back.

...

It never used to be like this.

She remembers a time before the pain. Before the voices.

When she was happy.

It was a long ways from here. How far, she couldnt recall. Most of what happened between the incident and now is a blur to her.
She was with another clan at the time. Happily indulging her curiosities as her mate would read to her or hone his own craft.

She had been studying darker magic at the time. Spurred on by the tales the clan were so happy to weave.
It was magic that was not attributed to any of the deities. Something far more sinister and powerful. Magic that could be dangerous in the right hands, and even more so in the wrong hands.

And she knew this.

She knew it was dangerous, what she had been doing. What she didnt realize was just how dangerous.

At least not until it was too late.

...

She can remember the day perfectly...yet not at all.

She had been up all night. Forgoing food in favor of discovery. Books and pages scattered about the room showing various scrawlings, illustrations, and diagrams. Beakers and flasks holding various liquids sat around with a few bubbling from the heat of the burners under them. She was on the verge of something big and she knew it.
She excitedly chanted, mixed, and recited; she scurried about the space tossing ingredients in a pot and reading from the various texts.

Minutes later she was standing over the relativy small cauldron, last item in hand. She shivered with excitement. This was it.
She dropped it in and waited...

And waited...

It was hard to notice at first, but slowly the bubbling in the cauldron sped up. Becoming more violent with each pop.

This lasted for a few minutes before dying down anticlimactic-ly. With a sigh, she turned to leave.

Thats when it happened.

The cauldron exploded, blasting her across the room and knocking her against the wall. She blacked out from the impact.

When she came to, she could make out the blurred outline of one of her clan mates over her. She couldnt make out what they were saying. All she could hear were the voices. So many of them all talking at once, each telling her to do one thing or another.

She couldnt focus.

Her stomach rumbled, and everything seemed to stop. Time stood still.

"fEed."

Her vision sharpened to the point it was almost painful. She could hear every little breath her clan mate took. She felt stronger than she ever had; that she could do anything.

She took a moment to soak it all in.

"FEeD. deSTrOY," they said more insistently.

She didnt hesitate this time.

...

The rest of the day is a blur after that. As is most of her and her mate's journey here.

He came here to try and help her, she knows. Even if he doesnt quite know the entirety of what happened, she knows he knows what's wrong with her.

She's happy that he wants to help. And he's done so much good for others.

But this is her problem. Her fight...

"JUSt giVe iN."

"...No."

And she intends to finish it herself.
