"Welcome my child, for the life you've been chosen to live is one of more dastardly proportions. I'm afraid you'll have to live with this life for not even the passing of it can save you... You are not dragon nor shade, ice nor shadow you are my daughter and a father's love is everlasting..."

That was the first thing I could ever remember, the first word, the first sound. He spoke of being my father, all I could see around me was darkness, though there was one part of the darkness… it just seemed… darker, meaner, with intentions. But then the winter hit, my scales and my hair shivered and a small light cracked the darkness it was the sun, the outside world.

I grew and changed as the years went by, my… adopted, parents took care of me, or at least tried. They were always busy with something, whether it be collecting resources or giving attention to my siblings.

Thought they never took care of my sight, the light and the darkness were the only two things I could ever see, even the clans alchemist couldnt find a remedy to help me. Though of course that wasnt the only time i've ever heard from my father. My… father sometimes speaks to me, not for long, just for a small sentence, often speaks of the 'innocent one' who could help me, whatever that means.

My clan treated me as an outsider, even though technicly all I've ever known was the clans cutoms. Often exchanging glances and whispering 'shade dipped' under their breaths, my father said it was the second species of a shade. He even went as far to say there were many who were shade-touched, and only a handful of shade dipped and shade hearted.

Everything after this point is being redone

Though one day, his message changed. it was just a normal day, some traders were coming in from plague to deliver meats and swampy insects and he just whispered to me:

"He's come, the Innocent One. He's come to help you"
