When Mark was a hatchling, his parents left him, leaving him with nobody. His clanmates neglected him. Growing up he was shy and self conscious.
As soon as he reached adult hood he was kicked out if his clan. Lonely and friendless he searched for a home. While hunting, Fallon and Ash found him and invited him to their "group". None of the other dragons were really serious about starting a real clan, but Mark decided to step up and develop their group into a more complex system, a clan. With the help of Amaryllis and Cashmere, they built the rules and systems that are in place today and the clan is still ever growing and changing. One Mark felt his clan was in safe hands, he handed off the job to his apprentice Levina, as he strongly felt she would be suitable for the job.

With his fellow warriors, Zielony and Waterfall, they mostly communicate with movements and signals instead of words. They are able to anticipate what the other is doing, so they can match their battle move accordingly since words are too complicated in the heat of battle.
